Ok, so my husband very annoyingly takes out the packets of powdered cheese in the boxes of mac & cheese for the kids and uses double cheese to make one box of macaroni. So then I am left with these boxes of plain macaroni with no cheese. What can I do with them? Can you buy just the powdered cheese mix? Or what kind of regular cheese would be best to use on them? (All I usually have around the house is sliced cheese for sandwiches.) Thanks for your suggestions!

Ha! My hubby does that too! www.bulkfoods.com sells that cheese powder. I've ordered from them many times for other stuff too, they're very good. And if you have a container of cheese powder you can make it as cheesy as you like.

Otherwise use slices or Velveeta.

Make macaroni salad, or a casserole.

MACARONI AND CHICKEN SALAD

2 cups macaroni
2 small or 1 large can Swanson white chicken breast
celery
tomato
green pepper
onion
mayonnaise
apple cider vinegar
salt
pepper
sugar

Cook macaroni according to box, do not over cook (7 min). Drain; cool water. Cut up about 4 or 5 stalks celery, one green pepper diced, one onion finely chopped. Remove seeds from 2 tomatoes and dice.
Add chicken, salad, and flake it up a little bit at a time. Combine with 1 cup Hellman's mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, teaspoon salt, teaspoon sugar, a pinch of pepper.

Mix; add to salad mixture.

Chill and enjoy.

CORN AND MACARONI CASSEROLE

1 (14.75 ounce) can creamed corn
1 (11.25 ounce) can corn
1 cup macaroni
1/2 cup butter
8 ounces cubed processed cheese (Velveeta)

Mix together creamed corn, whole kernel corn, and uncooked macaroni. Slice the butter, and mix into the corn mixture along with the cheese. Place in a buttered casserole dish. Cover.
Bake at 350°F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes. Uncover, stir, and bake uncovered for 30 more minutes.

Yes they do -- I've seen it in supermarkets near the parmasean cheese. It is a slim paper cannister with the same colors as the mac & cheese box. You can also buy nicer powdered cheese from baking supply catalogues.

Slices of processed American Cheese would work (like Velveeta or Kraft) or you could use Parmesan cheese with a little milk to bind (like 2 tsp of milk).

Another thing to try is just serving them as buttered noodles or using them instead of spaghetti for pasta.

OR, just hide the mac and cheese. Who would take out just the cheese packet!

Why not skip the cheese and just put a bit of butter and lemon pepper on the cooked macaroni? You'll use up a lot of sliced cheese if you go with what you have!

They do sell just cheese sauce. You find it where all the other packaged sauces are. You can also use cheddar cheese with a little milk and butter. Even sliced cheese will work in a pinch. I use two in one sometimes too....I use tomato sauce and seasonings on the leftover box.

Velveeta is the best "cheese" for melting.

Or you could try a bit of butter and parmesan cheese.

Use jarred spaghetti sauce on the noodles. You can even buy the cheese in a sauce premade or use an alfredo suace.
