a good Dr will listen to your concerns, and not dismiss you as "just another worried mother". They will assess not only physical development, but social and intellectual development as well. They will not make you feel like a fool if you call at 3 am with a sick baby. They will not over prescribe antibiotics for babies with the sniffles. They will have a child friendly waiting room, with toys or movies, and no cute knick-knacks that they don;t want kids to touch. They will stay on schedule, and not keep you waiting excessively. they will keep 3-4 appt slots open each day for walk ins and emergency appts.

A bad pediatrician is someone who does not listen to the parents and what they have to say. You as parents know what is going on with your own child.

Someone who genuinely seems interested in your child's care is the most important thing to think about. Some people do it simply for the money, and not because they want to help the child. Stay away from those kind of people.

I loved my youngest son's pediatrician because he was very concerned with his health, was always available for questions or help if I needed it, and acted as though he cared about him. If he wasn't like that, I would have changed doctors. Hope this helps....
