I was thinking it took 40 years, but I could be wrong. The bible says Noah did not become a father until after he was 500. The flood came when he was 600. He not only built the Ark, but was a preacher of righteousness, so he also had to try and warn the people of the impeding flood.

The only ones to listen and help him were his wife, his three Sons and their wives.

Gen. 5: 32 "And Noah got to be five hundred years old. After that Noah became father to Shem, Ham and Japheth."

Gen. 7: 11 "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on this day all the springs of the vast watery deep were broken open and the floodgates of the heavens were opened."

Gen. 6:18 "And I do establish my covenant with you; and you must go into the are, you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you."

2 Peter 2: 5 " and he did not hold back from punishing an ancient world, but kept Noah, a preacher of righteousness, safe with seven others, when he brought a deluge upon a world of ungodly people."

I'm going to have to look up more info on how they are coming up with 120 years.
