They mist them to make them look more appealing. There isn't really any nutritional point to it.

I can think of a few reasons they go to the extream of misting the vegetabes on display.
1. to make them look more appealing (do you want to buy a droopy bunch of greens??)
2. Most people think that this makes the veggies ready to eat (yeah right!!!)
3. when you place them on the scale for purchase you have all that extra moisture that they have so nicely applied that adds weight so you pay MORE and they get a bigger profit!!

Americans are obsessed with cleanilness, and those vegs should shower often to reduce the vegtable smell. Like the cheese should be dead, refrigerated and in a sanitary plastic shroud. Europeans make so much fun of us behind our backs, they say we have a sanitizing spray for every part of our body and live in fear of our own bodies also our food is treated equally, cracks me up!

Yup, good idea.

Keeps the greens fresh and appealing to the eyes of the naive consumers who foolishly believe that the rotten, pesticide-filled and worm-infested veges are actually edible and healthy to the human body.

To make them look fresh and tempting, like the BIG supermarkets with the black puddings, because they are getting to the sell by date and have dried, the so called "butcher"
covers them in oil to make them shiny and new!!!

they do this to keep the produce and vegetables fresh. to keep them from getting brown as if they were in your fridge. it's a standard health code for them to do that.

I think it is to keep the vegetables fresh and crisp.

at least my mom told me to run cold water over my salad mix to make it crispier.
