Honesty is always the best approach, and if he won't accept it, you will just have to be tough. He has no right to pursue you if you have made it very clear that you don't desire to be pursued by him.

You get out of it by not putting yourself in this position in the first place. If this really happens EVERY time you develop and understanding with men then you are doing something to foster this situation. Although some men will, most men will not mistake friendship for a relationship. But since you said it happens all the time then I would say the problem is not your men friends, but you. Stop sending out the wrong signals and you won't have to deal with this.

Try asking them what you did to make them think you wanted or were open to more then friendship. Then don't do it.

Tell him you don't have feelings for him like that and it is unfair for both of you to be in a relationship. Honesty is the best policy and I think you should get the point across as best as you can. Be tough and stick to your ground, if he doesn't get the picture get a guy friend to stand up for you and hopefully then he will get it.
He will probably be immature and you will have to work on your friendship. It's never the same.

well sounds like he's being selfish and your just not being real!

if it's just friends then just friends it is.

if it turned out to be more than that, say, friends with benefits, shame on you!

shoulda been that from the start.

it's easiest to clarify these things from the start and lay all cards on the table before the game is played out.

now that friendship is on the line, if he is truly a friend he wont mind things just being friendly.

and if he has an issue with that *** bring ur problems to me and i'll make them dissappear!!!

in such situations, its just best to be honest about what you think. communicating your opinion could be tough, but its best to say what is on your mind as firmly as possible without being rude. if they are truly your friends it will matter to them and they'll at least give you some space. if not, create the distance. it works.

just say to him:
" jason, i really liked our relasionship when we were friends. and we were good friends. and i just feel knowing that you like me, as though you're not taking me seriously enough, when we were fiends, we tlaked, a lot and i was really happy with you. you're like my brother strong handsome caring man, for both our sakes we should break up."
end with a long-ish hug. even if this does mean exaggerating it a bit, men like to be dominant to if you have to put yourself down to spare him, do it, otherwise welcome to hell until death.
weeks later go to the pub with him or something and be a " man friend" to him say stuff like "woah, check her out!"
gross i know but tis the best for both.
