It's a given that upping your veggie and fruit intake will help, but that gets boring unless you put some thought and creativity into it. I started making my own really simple salad dressing which tastes SO much better than the bottled stuff, and for some reason that makes me eat tons more salad now. I have also been learning to add fruit to my salad, which gives it a different kick. I've cut down on the processed junk food and usually snack on slices of baguette with cheese, like brie or jarlesburg/swiss topped with tomato slices. I also try to go for a glass of milk before I hit dessert so it'll make me more full, and it's good for you.

In addition to kicking up the produce, I try to eat more lean protein while cutting down on carbs and processed food. I eat more fish, grill and bake more pork and beef rather than frying it. I've gotten more into recipes and making stuff myself which helps me to control what healthy vs. unhealthy stuff I put into my dishes.

Simple salad dressing/vinegarette:
1 part vinegar (balsamic, rice, apple cider, whatever flavor you're in the mood for)
2 parts olive oil
1 or 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
salt and pepper to taste

Mix everything up and add to salads or eat as bread dipping in place of butter. Yum!
