The religious people haven't taught themselves to be capable of thinking that way. They feel that if the atheists are attacking their beliefs, then they must necessarily be attacking their gods as well. This is where all this 'atheists hate God' crap comes from: These people are so averse to the idea of not believing in God at all that they have rationalized it to themselves by deciding that atheists don't really disbelieve in God, they just hate him. This is a very strong idea; if you look at what happens when people try to use the Flying Spaghetti Monster analogy, you'll see that the christians still aren't open-minded enough to see that belief in God and belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster are the same in that sense. Instead, they tell themselves (and others) something along the lines of that because God exists and the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't, it is possible to truly disbelieve in the Flying Spaghetti Monster but not to truly disbelieve in God. And to think that THEY call US close-minded!

Unfortunately they think that their god not only gives them the right to impose their their beliefs on the rest of us but an absolute duty. The only answer is to oppose them everywhere. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. No matter how much we would wish for them to mind their own damn business they won't. If we let them they would walk all over us and we'd see the return of the burning of heretics and witches.
By the way spelling god in lower case is deliberate! For information of the the grammar Fascists.

The Christians mean well, it's just that their methods aren't always right. Christians believe that it is their duty to God to bring other people to him and often forget that they cannot compel people to believe in God or in the version of God that they believe in. As an ex-Christian myself, I do remember how sad I felt that other people were going to hell and wanted them to "come to Christ" so that they could go to heaven like I thought I was. I now realize just how childish that belief was.
Although I still believe in a "God", it is not the petty tyrant that haunts the Old Testament, nor is it the narrow-minded deity that many Christians believe in today. To me, "God" is simply All that is and of which we are a part, the Divine Mind, if you will. It doesn't matter whether one believes in this being or not, for such a being doesn't need or demand worship or even belief. It just is. For anyone to impose their ideas about this being upon others is, to me, absurd, for all ideas about this being are only that--ideas--and none of them can fully explain it, for it is beyond all explanations and concepts.

Why do Atheists have to attack any religion and accuse us of all sorts of nonsense. I hardly see where schools or government have any religious indoctrination going on these days. At least in the western world you are free to believe or not believe as you wish. I think it is rude and tacky to call any ones beliefs "Patently false". Aren't you just as guilty of trying to indoctrinate the world with your beliefs? Can't you just respect that people are different and have a wee bit of tolerance?

Even the religionists don't care about the other religionists' gods. They are all too busy fighting to have *their* god (thus their desires) forced on other people... er... "accepted into their hearts."
The schools are a battleground for social and economic control. Creationists would replace legitimate science and thinking for idiocy, to better control other people.
A well educated nation is the enemy of exploitation. Therefore, many anti-theocracy minds will remain in the fray for a long time to come.

They don't understand because they confuse our interest in the welfare of religious people and the effect that religious people have on humanity's ability to live in peace with an interest in their beliefs as if we would be willing to actually give up Reason for their insanity.

Umm... I do understand that atheists dont care. My Dad is one. And he understands that as a christian, I would get upset and feel hurt if he constantly questioned my belief system, especially as I never question his.
Perhaps you should just drop it.
If you don't want to hear christians opinions, then don't ask them questions. And perhaps you should learn to respect other people's beliefs.
If you aren't a weak person, you won't need to worry about people 'corrupting' you, as you will be able to make up your own mind. Hopefully no-one questions YOU when you do.

Christians believe in God, meaning that we understand we are all in god's likeness. Meaning also, that things that are disorderly and immoral, are things to erradicate. What's wrong with that? I'm not speaking on the Barbaric folks of the past who killed in Christ's name, I'm talking about cloaking ourselves in humility, being kind to all people, and revering our God.
ann coulter stated nicely in her book Godless that those who think they don't have a religion , really do have one: A godless culture that believes animals comes first before people, and that abortion is okay, sex before marriage is fine, and thou shall not eat meat! So I say that if christianity is leaking into the government, fine. God is taking His earth back anyhow.

I am niether blind or brainwashed and I do not believe I can save anyone, that is done by Grace. People have the free will to accept or not. It looks to me that it is the non believers who are looking for what we have. I do not condemn or judge anybody. With current laws going through Christians need to fight for every ones benefit
