Basically no companies can verify or access my credit? and Why is there a security freeze? What does that term mean? Did I do something wrong?

A freeze stops anyone from looking at your credit without your permission.

The funny thing is that only you are supposed to be able to put this freeze in place with the credit bureaus.

You might want to call them and look into this if you did not put the freeze in place.

1. Equifax 1-800-685-1111.
2. Experian 1-888-397-3742.
3. Transunion 1-800-916-8800.

Security freeze is placed by the real owner of that SSN and means they have been a victim of identity theft .
Companies can always view the report but will not grant new credit unless additional ID verification steps are taken by the company to confirm an application for new credit .

If you did not report ID theft , there may have been a mix up at the big 3 ,
Soooo , contact them to get your answers but be prepared as they may suspect you of being the ID thief .
You will have to answer questions to prove your identity .
