Cheap 1-week trip from Texas?

Hi,
I'm studying in Texas. In December I have 1 week between the end of exams and my plane back to my home country.
Where could I go in North or South America for cheap? Mexico I guess, but any other ideas? Good places in the US? Other Latin American countries?

Mexico is a great vacation destination. It has all kind of weather, lots of places to visit.And it is not as expensive as other choices, as some countries in south america, which are farther.
You can go to Baja California, which is the desert facing the sea. There you can find old towns, ruins, even ancient pictures made on rocks. the center of the country is full of really old towns like Morelia or Guadalajara which are big cities with important cultural life.
The Rivera Maya is really wonderful, apart from ruins and cenotes (inner rivers forming caves) you should´t miss Cozumel, the mexican diving paradise.And there´s much more check some other destinations.
