They don't have to be able to prove that god exists if they have faith.
They just can't realistically expect anyone else to accept their faith as proof of anything other than that they have faith.
Attempting to get athiests to provide proof of the nonexistance of God is a classic attempt to get someone into an argument where they are attempting to disprove a negative.
It can't be done, and has been a long time trick of religious people of all stripes.

Your right, atheist don't need to disprove God's existance. Any time you choose not to believe in something all you have to do is turn your back to it without looking for evidence. Its like sticking your fingers in your ears and saying "I can't hear you" over and over again when someone is saying something you don't like. Do some research and you will find that there is much more evidence that points to God than there is evidence against it. You can believe in concrete things such as science and God at the same time. You know, the big bang theory states that everything came from one unbelievably tiny pressurized molecule that exploded into the known universe. What it doesn't state is where that one molecule came from. Ask any scientist and he'll tell you I don't know (Unless he is a Christian). What kind of science is that.
If you are an open-minded person (I'm assuming you are since your asking questions) may I suggest a really good book called "A Case for a Creator" by Lee Strobel. Its a book in which he goes around the this country and others interviewing physicists, chemist, biologists and other scientists working on creationism VS. evolutionism. Its an amazing book. Please, I ask that you continue to ask questions and look for knowledge.
By the way, being agnostic would be saying that there isn't enough knowledge to prove one way or another that there is a God. Christians know that there is an abundance of information that supports God. If an atheist refuses to look for that information thats sad. I cannot imagine living my entire life with a presumed idea on any subject and being to stubborn to look for any evidence contrary to my engraved in stone ideas.

Faith is belief in the evidence of things unseen.
Atheists believe there is no G-d.
Christians believe G-d sent His son Jesus to us to redeem us once and for all. His sacrifice re-opened paradise.
Agnostics are on the fence about this.
Not being able to prove G-d's existence doesn't make a faithful person agnostic; unrelieved doubt would do that.

All these questions? Where are we Yahoo Answers? Anyway, I am Christian Saved by Grace and Faith. I don't have to prove anything, it is you that has the burden of proof, you are the one that must prove to yourself beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Lord God Jesus Christ did not die for your sins. It's that simple, are you that confident that your so called evidence of science is enough to save your soul, if you have placed your bet on the wrong belief. The wager is to high for me, I'll bet on Salvation. Great question, really, I was just kidding earlier.

No, not at all. We use creation and the evidence of good as attributes of God. We also rely on the historical testimony to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Through this one event, we still cannot see God today, but we trust in faith that God has acted in some remarkable way.
If you want to apply a scientific premise to this, one premise is that we rely on the experience and testimony of others who have come before us.

Agnostics admit that they dont know whether or not God exists. This is the difference between agnostics and pretty much everyone - we admit that we dont know. Its quite liberating, really.

Belief in God is a matter of faith, not proof. Just as atheists don't need to disprove god's existence, Christians (or other faiths for that matter) have no need to prove the existence of god to justify their beliefs.

Technically, we should all be agnostic when confronted with reality and all of it's possibilities.
I'm the leaning hard toward atheist type of agnostic though. I just doubt the "known" gods.
Edge has that classic "guilt you into thinking there is something wrong with you" answer. It used to work very well too.
