Toyota, but buy it from an individual you'll get a much better car for the money. Take it to a local mechanic and have it checked out before you buy it. Dealerships have all kinds of hidden fee's the buyer doesn't see. Good luck

Honestly, anyone selling a car for $1500-$2000 couldn't guarantee the reliability of any vehicle.
Cars wear out over time, and for $1500-$2000 you're probably looking at a car that is at a minimum 10 years old if not older.
The reliability of a vehicle that old is highly dependent on how well it was maintained and cared for.

Reports are one thing i do mechanic work and own a salvage yard i can tell you that toyotas from about 97 up have a bad track record where as the honda from 90 up have had few problems. I owned a 92 accord and i dogged it hard and long and it lasted 423,000 miles when i SOLD it.

They are really about the same. According to Consumer Reports Toyota is slightly better but it's not really enough of a difference to matter. You will be fine going either way.
