I am getting a 3/4 sleeve that will take 3-4 sessions to complete (mostly because of time). Do I tip my artist after each session or after the piece is complete?

Im paying by the session, he is charging me $400 for 5 hours of work to start out. The entire piece will take about 15-20 hours.

Any sugestions on the tip I should give if Im happy with it?

you can tip whichever way you prefer, or whatever option is more affordable for you. also tipping amount varies from person to person. tip them what you think it's worth. most people probably do 10-20% more for smaller, cheaper tattoos. good luck!

When I had my larger piece done, I tipped per session. I'm not sure if this is the customary way to do things. If all else fails, you can ask the tattoo artist what's normal.

As far as amount, 10% sounds fair, but it all depends on how happy you are with the piece.

Believe me, your artist would highly appreciate the tip after every session...you have to remember that tattooing is a part of a 'service' industry...you wouldn't wait until the last time you ever visited a restaurant to tip your server, right? Yes, please tip your artist and spread the word cos I think a lot of people are in the dark about this too!

After each session, you'll want to ensure quality throughout the entire process.

Holy cow! With all the time it's going to take to complete your tat, it's going to really cost you! I'd wait until it's done and go with a ten percent tip if you're happy with it. Good luck

It's up to you. You could if you want to but it's not necessary

I didn't even know you had to tip for a tattoo. IF you are already paying for the work why would you tip?
