nope, oil paintings don't need glass.. that's usually just for watercolor or charcoal artwork..

No glass on oil paintings. Most oils paintings are covered in a finishing varnish-like material.
Glass is for drawings, pastels, watercolors, things like that.

No glass on oil paintings. The framers would advise you against it anyway. They frame original oil pieces differently than they would a sketch or litho etc.

No. Not unless you are planning to hang it in a sunny spot. If the painting was varnished correctly you should be fine.

That being said, reds fade faster than any other color. So if the painting has a lot of reds and will be hanging in a sunny spot, couldn't hurt to put a piece of glass over it. (Blues are pretty stable.)
