You need to re-read the Federal laws and BATFE regs. . . . .
You have to be '21' years to purchase and possess a pistol, and '18' for any long gun (rifle or shotgun). This is the law in ALL 50 states. Federal laws take priority over ALL state statutes.
. . . . . And I don't know ANYWHERE a private individual can buy 'missiles' or 'missile launchers'!

actually, you have to be 18 to purchase or "own" a rifle and 21 to purchase "own" a handgun.
That part of your question was a good one, but I won't address the second part cuz I think you were just venting.
As for why? it's the law. Most feel that a person under 21 is not mature enough to own a pistol. I'm not saying I agree to that completely, because I know some, like my kids, who were brought up shooting both rifle and handgun from about age 8 on. And they are very responsible with firearms. Then again, I know people my age that shouldn't be allowed to own a firearm!! ;0)

Not sure what country you are from, but in the USA it's 21 for handguns and 18 for rifle, except some states and cities have been taken over by the Commies and they don't want anyone but themselves being armed.
It's a matter of being of age with legal responsibility.
Used to be most people were good parents and kept their kids disciplined. Today, most people out there do not practice parenting and as a result we have kids doing really stupid stuff. The good must suffer because of the actions of a few bad seeds.

A few pointers in the rigth direction are needed here. You have to be 21 to buy a handgun and 18 to buy a long gun like a rifle or a shotgun. You can blame it on the government.

Well you have to be 18 to own a rifle (or shotgun) and 21 to own a pistol.
In your second question, you're comparing a weapon and its ammunition. You should rephrase it to something along the lines of "ICBM at age 25 and tactical ballistic missile at age 26", that way it'd be in the same format and spirit as your first question.

see the link... you need to be 18 for a long gun and 21 to BUY a pistol...you may own a pistol before 21, but you cannot go out and buy one.
Law must be an interesting study...
I haven't seen the lower age limit for missiles yet.

In any state in the U.S. it's 18 years of age to own a rifle or shotgun, and 21 years old to own a handgun. This is mandated by Federal Law.. Don't know who told you what you are quoting here or way, but they gave you bad information.....Nobody is going to be impressed with your missile ownership "tude" here. The whole purpose of gun ownership is being level headed and "responsible"

If you want it sooner than the present laws allow I suggest you start organizing the millions of younger people & lobbying to amend the present laws state by state. It could be done if you want change bad enough & get busy addressing the issue.*
