The best way is to only pack what you absolutely need.

Consider how you are travelling. If you are going by car or by air, a bigger suitcase will be fine but if you are going by bus or train you will have to drag it around - so pack lightly. Most hotels will have some type of laundry facility or can direct you to a laundry.

Put large things and breakable items in the centre and small things around the edge.

Don't overpack - this could lead to bursting. Keep your liquid soap and shampoo in sealed food saver bags Push as much air out of the bag as possible before sealing it. Put these in the middle also - restrictions apply for air travel on any liquids more than 100ml in size. Or just use the complimentary soap and shampoo in the hotel...

Take one case with you. Buy a second case if you buy clothes or want to bring gifts home..

This is so simple...put the bum part of trousers in the suitcase with legs hanging over the side, or long dresses put the top in the suitcase with the long skirt of the dress over the side, then roll all your clothes and put them inside, put aerosols or tubes of skin cream inside your shoes etc. then when you have everything in your suitcase, pull the legs of your trousers or the tops of the dress'es over the clothes and this pushes everything down.
Then close the suitcase and stand it up, any space you have will now be at the top and anything that you forgot you can add in the top of the suitcase.

Alternatively, take an empty suitcase and buy clothes over there, probably cheaper that way anyway.

First I would invest in a good quality suitcase that's going to last years and can withstand being thrown around. I love the cases with wheels on as I'm lazy !
I would check the weather forecast so I only take clothes I would be able to wear on my trip also bare in mind the activities you will be doing on your holiday.
Roll t shirts and underwear and put socks inside shoes to make extra room.
I find toiletries take up lots of room so I try to buy all travel sizes and put them inside a plastic bag in case they leak
Fold and sweaters or larger clothing items neatly in a square
Try not to pack the day before you go as you will tend too over pack if you pack in advance you will take less and have more room for any souvenirs you might pick up along the way

Place on a bed everything you simply have to take, pared down to the bare essentials. Then deduct 50 per cent.
• Brush clothes with a clothes brush before you pack them.
• Fold clothes on a bed or on a flat table.
• Have a pile of tissue paper for padding. It is agreed generally by the experts that you simply cannot do a half-way decent job without using tissue paper. Use tissue paper to line any folds that you make and to separate garments.
• Load a suitcase in the following order: Heavy dresses should be laid towards the bottom of the case with the front facing upwards. Same with men's suits. Trousers at the bottom, with the crease towards the handle. Heavy or tweed skirts also go at the bottom. Jackets are packed next. It depends on the length of the jacket and the size of the case. In a very large suitcase you can place them with the collar facing the handle and then the jacket folded in with one centre crease. If this is not possible, lay it lengthwise across the case. Make sure the collar side faces towards the centre of the case, rather than being pressed to one side.

I'll give you my tip, I usually check out the weather on the Internet, obviously it won't give the whole weather forecast for the holiday so you have to take into account how the weather is usually like there during that time, if you going to visit a friend ask them. I always pack abit of the un needed so don't feel guilty if you do pack what you don't need. One or two items should be enough. Always pack essentials it's less of a hassle and anyway I bet 85 percent of people when they go on holiday usually buy some clothes, so you do need space.Another thing if you need to be warm on your holiday invest in a a good jacket with only 2 sweaters.

The best way to pack a suitcase is always with your shoes at the bottom, start feet first, possibly in plastic bags to protect both them and anything else they come into contact with, followed by layers of clothes rolled into tubes (they crease less), amongst which you put your smellies and other things that are susceptible to breakage, followed by more layers or rolled clothes. On top goes what you might need when you get to your desitination, so if you're going on a beach holiday and arrive in the middle of the day you leave your cozzie and towel right on top for easy access...and always remember to take a change of underwear and one extra top in your hand luggage, just in case your case doesn't show up on the conveyor belt at the other end...

1. Get everything you want to take together in one place - I find on the bed is good - with suitcase open alongside.

2. Throw half of what you've got out into a heap in the corner because you're not taking them. What's left on the bed is what you're going to take.

3. Fold up outer clothing (excluding jumpers and jackets) and pack in suitcase.

4. Stuff underwear and socks inside shoes and pack shoes sideways in gaps between clothing. Any items that won't fit in shoes just stuff in the corners.

5. Place jumpers, jackets and anything else big and/or bouncy on top across the lot.

6. Close suitcase, sit on it if you have to.

Happy hols.

Yes I would let her pack her own suitcase and just make sure she had everything she needs. I would TRUST her. That is the key thing here. Maybe you could compromise with your mom. Ask her if you can help your sister pack her bag and then when you two are finished she can check over it? Tell us how it goes!

Start with a list of everything you need, that way you won't forget anything. Remember what things are non-replaceable when you get there and what things are.

Next, get everything out, roll it up (to prevent creases) and stuff it in the bag, biggest/heaviest items first. Make sure precious/fragile items are well wrapped in clothes - this will avoid you taking loads of bubble-wrap etc and still protect the items.

Make sure you have a last-minute list of things to go in the suitcase just before you leave and things to do before leaving the house.

Plenty of planning will make your escape from your house less stressful, then you can relax when you get there and not worry about not having a toothbrush, etc.!

Option 1 - Open a draw and shove it all in. Time saving too.
Option 2 - Get someone to do it for you...
Option 3 -
Place items such as shoes at the bottom of the case, if your not planning on taking many shoes then place pieces of clothes such as jeans on the bottom.
Next make sure your tops and shirts are folded nicely (so nice that Anthea would be proud)
Lay these on top.
Next shove underwear and socks into any remaining gaps.

:)
