YUSUFALI: If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess: And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith.

It means that If you are living somewhere , and there aren't Muslim Girls to Choose from then you can wed a Non believer, because Allah knows you believe.
Among those whom your right hand posesses ,
Hand is Physical meaning you can touch , tangible
YOUR RIGHT hand means Righteous, believer
Because You must wed and have children who will spread his teachings.
So basically it means You can marry a nonbeliever, as long as you teach your children the faith,
But he prefers a believer since mothers are the first teachers.

If you can't con a free woman into being your wife, look among your slaves ("whom your right hands possess") or take matters into your own hands, so to speak. The latter would be a much better solution for the rest of the world.

In Islam a person must have means. Meaning able to support that believing woman. If they don't have the means to marry the free woman, they can marry the slaves they own.
before a Muslim man can marry. They have to pay for the brides gifts, before the marriage, and after the marriage in case he divorce her. Also, he must be able to support her. If he can't then he is permitted to marry his slave.

If you don't want (can't afford) a free muslim girl. Take your muslim slave as your wife.
This verse is revealed at the time salvery was common.
Litle by little slavery was extinct because many slave has been freed or become his master wife.

If you can't find a free woman who is dumb enough to marry you, then it's OK to marry one of your slaves.
