I would say that cute platitudes, slogans and bon mots contribute nothing to the effort of solving serious problems.

Agree totally. I was privileged to work at Philadelphia SANE and do much of the planning and organizing for William Coffin's visit at a fund-raising dinner in the late 1960s. He's a very nice guy, and makes a lot of sense. This quote is a good summary of what we need to keep in mind all the time. It is a completely rational approach to ethics.

Too dangerous for anything but truth. Look at everything that's happened in the world because of misunderstanding. If the world were honest, it wouldn't be so horrible.
But we are too small for anything but love. There are billions of people in this world, but you should love like whoever you come in contact with is the last person you'll ever see.

You have the most famous man that ever walked the earth telling people in His written Word "I am the truth" and few men listen. This man's greatest commandment is to "love your neighbor" and few men listen.
Americans can't even remember who the "Lord" is in their Constitution and because they can't remember they are self-destructing daily. The Constitution doesn't work if you can't remember who the "Lord" is in the Constitution.
The writers of the Constitution knew that the Lord said who He sets free is free indeed. Americans today don't want to remember that, but they'll be on their knees begging the Lord when they lose their freedom. Only the Lord offers freedom, all else in bondage.

When I read your quotes sometimes I hate it, English is not my first langguage, its my 3rd or smetmes it's even 4th.
Well what about this, is this similar ?
1. $50 for me/you to take to Department store many times it feels as not enough, but for a beggar, that's far too many.
2. It's difficult enough to struggle in life by doing rightenous, why people keep walking their life in wrongdoing;
3. Love , real love, is sincere, is being truthfull, is being honest, is trusting and trustworthy, the depth no body can "dive into" (is it right expression?), the hight no body can reach, you feel close but its far, you think it's far but it's so close , it's there but you cant see it, etc etc ...........

A great quote that doesn't change the fact that Evil, Hate and deception will always exist.
Human nature still has a lot of evolution to look forward to.

Great quote.
Would be nice if everyone agreed, but religion dictates that neither are important unless in the confines of a specific belief system. All others who don't agree deserve to be burned for eternity in torture.

Nice thought.
The issue is that since people are self-interested, if everyone followed the "truth" rule, someone would benefit greatly from lying. . . .

truth is relative though, and that causes people to hate others whose truth is not the same as theirs. it's very sad.
life is too short for anything but tolerance.
