I'm from UK. They are like most people in EU - honest, hard-working, friendly, etc. I hope now that they are in the EU there living standards will improve. They are very poor, compared to UK, so I hope we can all make sacrifices to help them. Unfortunately, the media here is always against Romanians (and most foreigners too). The media always portrays them negatively (crime, gangs, drugs, begging, etc).
I am trying to learn Romanian, but it's not a popular language and material is hard to find. If anyone knows anything which can help (besides Teach Yourself Romanian) please let me know. Thanks.

My best friend in high school was Romanian, although she lived here in the U.S.A, she and her family visited Romania often. She would come back and show me pictures of her trips. The beach pictures always including many hairy men in speedos, I thought that it was funny, but cultures are different.
Anyway, her parents were very strict, and she told me her mother was considered a 'gypsy' in Romania, and that was looked down upon.
She was a wonderful person, though I know that I can't base a country on one person, I have nothing against Romania and wouldn't mind visiting the country and getting a better understanding of the culture.

I am from the USA
I have high regard for the Romanian people.
Through the years I have always admired their Olympic achievements especially in Gymnastics.
I have felt bad that they lived under Soviet domination for so long.
Although I've visited the Black Sea several times, I have never visited Romania..but know it is a beautiful country rich in history and architecture...and would like to someday visit.
I sometimes say hello to a Romanian when they are in Skype-me mode.
I encounter Romanians here on summer work and travel and am always interested to know more about them because... having grown-up in the Soviet era...this part of the world has always been a bit of a mystery.

I had a few Romanian friends in college. They were very nice, classy, and extremely intelligent people. The men are hot looking and very good lovers.I do not, however appreciate how the Gypsy community is marginalized though. It seems as if anyone who has darker skin is said to be a gypsy, that's mean. For example, one of my friend's wife was olive-skinned and all the other friends didn't like her and said she had gypsy blood. You should have seen her,she made the Victoria's Secret models look as if they were ugly.
To all you narrow minded people who think vampires and all that other crazy stuff,Dracula is based on the story of Vlad the Impailer, a ruler who impailed his enemies."Dracu" is Romanian for the devil.

I am from the North of Scotland and we have accepted lots of new people in to our communities - Any person from Romania has been courteous I work in a library where its the only place they can get free access to their families and friends. People are people no matter where they come from and should be treated with the respect we expect whether or not their governments would treat us the same I have douobts.

I find Romanians to be friendly and jolly. I live in a town in Louisiana that has a pretty large population of Romanians here on work visas.

U.S. I used to work with a girl from Romania, she was one of the sweetest persons I have ever known. She told me alot about the country and her history there. She has pictures of the country side where her grand parents still live. What a beautiful place. And of course, who could forget Nadia, the little gymnast. That's all I know.
