The stronger the 'Them And Us' mentality, the greater the sense of unity and purpose. Any religion (and/or political movement) out to enforce its law world-wide can soon find enough common ground to stifle internal squabbles and factions, especially under the guise of man-made 'theocracy'. You will find similar attitudes amongst e.g. the pseudo-Christian group, Jehovah's Witnesses. So many people admire what passes for unity amongst them (without realising how dissenters are dealt with and to what extent facts are twisted by leaders.) It's the same, though much worse, in Islam, which is as much political as it is religious.

If you are a Christian, all you need to do is to abide in Christ and be united to him. Jesus warned that the weeds would grow with the wheat until the harvest (the end of the age) when the angels will be sent to gather the weeds for burning.

Because Christianity is confusing since there are no clear rules and what is considered a sin can suddenly not become one, such as how usury was considered a sin almost as bad as murder, now everyone has a savings account and a mortgage and credit card.

Islam, like Judaism has rules that can never be changed. Also Christians except maybe some Mormon groups and the Amish, have no sense of community

As for there being different Muslim groups, they still consider each other to be Muslims and will pray in each others mosques and marry each other (some sunnis consider shia to not be Muslim though, but most accept them as Muslims)

Allah only created nationalities and races so we could tell each other apart otherwise we are all the same. all mankind is one nation including every religion every race every nationality. I disagree with all these sunni vs shiaa fights but there is nothing one person can do about it.
The Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon his soul) said:
'All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.'

It's said in the Qur'an that all mankind is one nation.
This can be the reason of the unity amongst Muslims

Unity is a key factor in the teachings of Islam...

"And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Quran), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allahs Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided."
( سورة آل عمران , Aal-e-Imran, Chapter #3, Verse #103)

Like Jews they view all other faiths as false and therefore non-faiths, this unity is in part due to fear of reprisals from muslim hierarchy, many former Muslims have told how they live in fear of their lives of militant Islamic factions, this same control and fear was evident during the communist years of Stalin and as such cannot be admired.

They actually aren't united at all.

There are just as many Islam factions as there are Christian denominations.

There is a reason the sunniis and Shia fight one another, and it isn't religious unity.

Balaam is right,

but they operate under a principal, of my enemy's enemy is my friend, they will unite to fight a common enemy, that is you, you christian, and then will return to killing one another.

they are much more divided than you know. I was in iraq, and every tribe, village and hamlet has something against their own, and everyone else. It is a crazy world without law

don't be mislead, what you see is not real, it is smoke and mirrors
