Do you have any other problems with your eyes?
You said you have floaters, I have them, but did not have them until I was whiplashed in a car wreck. I was told they are flecks of dried blood that may or may not go away. I have since concussed myself again, and they came back again, pretty strong, i occasionally swipe in front of my face thinking there's a bug flying! i've had the white light flash experience since the car wreck as well, but I don't recall if i did or not before that. I don't think it's anything hurtful, but consult your MD if your sight is fine, ask about midline shifts and let him know ANY history of bumps and such to your head and body that were more than tiny. What you might think is nothing might be a clue to your doctor. If youare very worried ask to see a neuro-optomotrist. Not an opthomologist, it is a common misunderstanding that all an optomotrist does is give you contacts and glasses and check your eye health. some do quite a bit more. It is likely nothing to worry about. This is simply for your peace of mind at this point. Also, if there IS something wrong, tis best to catch it now, not later. And yes, I have been to the doc for all this stuff.
I'm glad I did.
All the best,
AquaChild.

Do you have new glasses that you're not used to? Do you have migraines afterwards. Many types of migraines are preceded by an "aura" that oftentimes come as a strange smell or strange sights. If neither of the above is true, I would go see a doc right away and ask for a referral to a neurologist for testing, maybe an EMG or MRI to look for any abnormal brain function, especially in your visual cortex or anything pressing on your optic tracts (the nerves that conduct sight to your brain). Consistent twice a day flashes are a bit worrisome. An ophthalmologist (not optometrist. Ophthalmologists have MD degrees, optometrists have OD degrees) may also know what's going on as this can also be some retinal diseases. Your primary care will know who is the best to refer you to. Good luck!

Floaters are from the jelly-like fluid inside the eye which sometimes can pull on the retina. And when they do pull it causes the small flashes of light. If it occurs more frequently and if it affects your vision at all then go to your doctor asap.
Hope this helps!!

I don't know what it is either, but it happens to me too. More than just a couple of times over the years, it's happened many times. I just ignore it, my vision is fine too.

I use to get those to when I was in high school and younger. I have not had anything like that happen for awhile now. I think it is normal because I have not gone blind, yet.

Go and see another doctor and get a second opinion. It could be many of eye diseases and be honest as possible.
