i went to six flags a couple weeks ago and i couldnt believe how many people had to get off the ride because they were to big to ride it (either the belt didnt fit or the handles from up above wouldnt come down on them)..i was in such shock when i left. the average size for women in the US is a size 12 and that is what i am. i diet to keep myself in a healthy range. but, like you said, it seems as if being slim is becoming rare.

i'm getting fatter *yikes*
BUT, its only because i WAS on a diet and doing very VERY well, lost 20lbs, but then got engaged while on vacation (and not dieting while i was there cause hey i'm on vacation and engaged!) and have just been SOOO stressed out over the wedding that i've gainned back 5lbs in the past month :(
so for the time being i'm saying screw the diet i need my comfort food (which is carbs so thats not good) but when i finally start looking for my dress i will go back on my diet, which really wasnt a diet, it was just portion control which is amazing easy once you start learning what a real serving is.
but yes, i agree with you. its really scarey to see all these kids and they are huge. and i remember when i was a kid (in the 80s) and i knew 2 fat kids in school. and that was it.

SLIMMER! At 45, I finally realized that if I want to be around to see my son go to college, get married and have children, then I needed a life-style change! I started with reading ingredients on food packaging, and walking this past February. So far I've lost 30 and kept off 27! I've used the excuse that it's been too hot to walk (I HATE treadmills - give me fresh air in a walking park any day!) but if I want the weight to stay off, I've got to get my butt back on the track. I want to lose 30 more, which will put me smaller than I've ever been in my adult life (150 pounds). Yay, me!
