I am in pain management for actual reasons. There is such a stigma attached to this but I have to have it or I can't function in life. I was just hired by a very large and successful company. I am sure I will be going for drug testing and I am afraid that it will make me lose this job. Will the pain medications show up and if so what will happen? If I have a note from my doctor and the RX then will I be ok? Please, someone help me so I can calm down. I have to have my medicine and can not stop but I also have to have this job!

You won't be refused if you have a legitimate reason and a doctors prescription. Just make sure you tell the tester about the legal use, and they should be able to detect the proper from the improper.

You will be fine I am also in pain management, and I freaked when I had to take my drug test, I was told by the cccupational health nurse who tested me as long as I have a prescription from my doctor not to worry, and do not give any information willingly, if opiates test positive in your sys a person from the lab will call you and ask for the rx # and dr's name, they will confirm your script to be legit and be done with it, they are not even supposed to tell the employer anything, and if anything was ever mentioned you just say they are to help you sleep at night, you are obviosly a bright enough person to get the job, you should really have no problems. Good Luck with everything, and I got the job I tested for its also in a hospital, I know if there were any concerns I wouldnt be here. Take Care

The doctors explanation and a list of your prescriptions should suffice. The active drugs, narcotics, and such will show up on the testing, but you have a legal prescription for the drugs. Disclose all medications you are on. You have a disability and are possibly covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and are protected against discrimination.

Usually large organizations, like the one i work for, does not test for pain medications. They are mainly focusing on the big drugs like marijuana, heroin, coke, ect. I am not sure how much of this you are taking but it sounds like it is a lot, perhaps you should see a pain management specialist. And yes if you have a doctors note for your medications it will help I have chronic back pain and plenty of times i have had to go home from work because of it. Just make sure you CYOA

As long as you have an RX and the meds are prescribed from a doctor you should be fine. They will ask if you are taking any prescribed meds before the test, just be sure to let them know.

Depends on what Rx you have....if it is opium based then yes it will most likely pop positive on the test however...if you have both a doctors notes and Rx...and you tell them that the time of testing...there should be no problem...they can't not hire for having a Rx. good luck

If they are perscription drugs you will be fine. I would make the powers that be aware of your medical condition asap. Where I live they always ask on applications if you have a pre-existing medical condition they should be aware of, then there is nothing they might consider deceptive down the road. You are fine though so stop stressing.

As long as your are prescribed the meds by your doctor, then you are fine. You may want to take the prescriptions or a note from your dr to the interview/drug screening.

Goodluck!
