I work in a corporate law firm.... in Client Data. I'm not actually one of the lawyers (thankfully I'm not in too deep yet)... but I do have to work with them and put up with their inane requests on a regular basis.
And I hear the people talking in the lifts.... and in the restaurant area.... and all around Moorgate...

.... And I swear I don't understand a single damned thing they're saying. They barely make a shred of sense at all.

Is it ironic that I actually come here and R&S because I find even the christians here make more sense than the people I work with? They seem to be so caught up in their own bizarre little worlds that I honestly don't understand a single thing about them.

Just what the heck is their fascination with their jobs anyway? Who in their right mind would talk about meetings, presentations, pitches, etc in their lunch break?!
Do you suppose they do this at home too? Blather on about all sorts of weird stuff with corporate lingo while eating at the dinner-table with their family?

Are they aliens or something?

Humans have made their lives far too complicated, and that is the prime example.

When all you need is food, family and a home.... small communities work much more efficiently than larger ones.

It wouldn't be too surprising that many of them are christians too.

Since most christians wander around talking about stuff that doesn't make a shred of sense either.

It's why so many of them get sucked into multilevel marketing schemes and other scams.

To be a corporate stooge, you have to give up any sense of decency, self-respect, and conform to the system. I work as an electrical designer for a large architectual firm, and there are a lot of people who spend all day talking without any idea of what they are talking about (they love to hold meetings so that they can get together and babble), and then when projects come due, and major details still haven't been worked out, they will try to throw me, and the other engineers under the bus.

Fortunately, I learned the judo maneuvers to make sure that when they try it - that they end up throwing themself under the bus instead.

Your question caught my attention because of a discussion I had yesterday with a friend of mine. He was talking about "Objectivism", which is a philosophy that is essentially atheistic. He said that although he believes in God, if he was running a business he would use the principles of Objectivism because there is no room for God in business. I think he is exaggerating but nonetheless I have experienced the kind of alienation you are talking about and I think it is for the same reasons.

Many people in various fields get tied up in their own jargon, but I don't think that makes them illogical.

Theists, on the other end, have to actively ignore the world around them.

I don't really know that there's a real connection between the two groups.

You are dealing with double-speak where any mistake or wrong word can be used against them in a court of law.

When they speak of tax reduction they only mean for corporate enterpise, and the dribble down effects.

I'm sure crocadiles can understand each other, even with a wink of their sedentary eyes.

They make alot of cents.

We had a lecture yesterday from a bunch of patent lawyers trying to get us to go to law school and join their ranks. What a god awful proposition.

Bleh, lawyers throwing monkey wrenches in the gears of progress.

They're in love with their paychecks.

And all those years in law school has rotted their brains. I'm not sure the average lawyer CAN talk about anything else, unless it was on the news.

YES! I am so tired of hearing nouns turned into verbs by corporate-speak. The one I particularly hate around here is "visionizing". What the crap? There are lots of perfectly good words that already exist!!!
