Boys tend to be slower than girls. In my experience with my son there was no way he was ready for his potty at 18 months. Hes 3 and half now and im still trying to train him. Hes just about getting there. I feel I have somehow failed. Ive tried everything. However having spoken to my health visitor she said this is not uncommon and I just have to persist. He will do it when hes ready.

18 months is too young for a little boy to be potty trained. Most children potty train between 2 and 3 years old. It typically takes boys longer to potty train than girls. Not always, but a lot of the time. I wouldn't expect your brother to be potty trained for at least a year, maybe longer.

All little boys are different, all you can do is try and see how it goes. If he wants to be potty trained then he'll do it. If he doesn't then he won't. I have 4 boys and 3 of which are potty trained with my 3rd son who will be 3 on friday, I have been potty training him for over 6 months and he is just now out of diapers and not going in his pants. Sometimes it take alot of time to get them used to they idea. 18 months is still young, but I think if your parents want him to learn and he is ready he'll do it.

I spoke with my doctor about potty training my 18 month old, I am due with my second in April and wanted him tranied by the time the new baby arrives. His pedicatrician said it's never too early to start introducing him to the potty, teaching him basics. She gave me a big packet with tips, and it's been really helpful. Talk to the kid's prediatrician!

My little boy was completely trained by the time that he was 18 months. He was ready and he started taking off his diaper and going to the potty. His sister is 2 years older and he copied everything that she did. So, it is POSSIBLE. Don't put too much stress on him. He will let you know when he is ready when he starts to show an interest.

It really has nothing to do with what you want. They are the parents and its their kid so they will potty train when they want. I dont mean for that to sound rude, its just the truth.

3 is the average age for little boys to start potty training......but if you feel he is ready. because he is showing signs, then it is ok to try it, but do not push him.....
