I've always leaned towards a pre-tribulation rapture of the church.
But we really just don't know.
I based this on:
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 and
1 Corinthians 15:51-58
But the thing to remember the most is this:
Whether by rapture or by death.....if you are saved, heaven is where we will end up.

I find it extremely saddening that the people following this philosophy can not see the sanctity and beauty of the world in which they live. Is it not better to focus on living well in this world, and improving the lives of those around you, than focusing on the eschatological outlook? There are many problems that are not being addressed, such as the threat of global warming, which threaten the survival of the human species unless change in our way of life occurs. We need to learn (or relearn) to live in balance with the natural world, not fight against it.
I believe that these are only the last days if Christians succeed in making them so. They are so focused on the next world that this world is neglected. There are things that need to be done NOW in order to preserve this world. If they are wrong (and there is always that possibility no matter how sure they feel) then it is our children and grandchildren who will be the ones to suffer the consequences of our actions.
To me, it seems that the eschatological sentiment is that: "It doesn't matter what happens to this world as I'm going to heaven", or: "The quicker this world is destroyed then the quicker judgement day will come and I'll have my perfect life". These sentiments do not reflect well on the people who have them.

The rapture, as it is presently taught, is BS. The Left Behind crap is a fable and ear tickling doctrine which we are warned about.
The bible tells us exactly who antichrist is just as plainly as the Old Testament prophesied of Christ. The Jews didn't recognize Christ as the fulfillment of Messiah, and the current apostate church will not recognize antichrist in the same way.
Both described in minute detail before their appearance, yet both rejected by most of those who were to received the information.
The truth is out there, but only God can reveal it to you.

My view is that most other people's views about eschatology more closely represent scatology.

What if like the Phraisees and Saducess who interpreted their scriptures literally instead of spiritually and missed the first coming people are doing the same thing and miss the second one? Is there a lesson in their behavior?

No one can say when the end is coming. No one can agree on when it began, so I don't see why they would presume to know when it will end.

I think if it happens, it will happen as it began, with a big bang, you will not notice or feel any thing! With a snap of your fingers, and all it will be gone!
