I can't see why that would be wrong. Patience is a virtue. Praying for something that would improve your character is a good thing.

The reason some people say they don't pray for patience, is because often that translates into a challenge that will help them to develop patience, so it's like praying for a challenge. If you've already got that challenge in your life, and you pray for the patience to overcome it, then you aren't praying any new difficulties into your life.

It is not wrong to pray for anything that makes you a better, kinder person. I often pray for patience as this is one of my weak areas. Without patience it is hard to show long suffering and self control, two of the fruitages of the spirit. Galations 5:22-23

No it is not wrong at all and this was your Mother`s own personal interpretation of the matter, patience like all the virtues are not ours by birth right but come from God and so we have to pray for this with humility.

Usually people say "don't pray for patience" because they know the scripture that says "tribulation worketh patience". In other words, don't pray for patience because you are asking for troubles!

But I think that is bogus. We are called to grow in grace and in the knowledge of God. Patience is needed, patience is a great gift of God, and patience can be prayed for.

god bless

It is okay to pray for patience, but, when you pray for patience, God will give patience through trials. Which is a hard lesson to learn. However, if God is leading you to pray for patience maybe you should. God wants us to grow in Him, and that means we need to go through growing pains.
I will pray for you.

I have always been warned not to pray for patience because of the lessons that you will have to endure to learn patience.

You pray and ask for whatever it is that you are lacking...patience is a gift of the Spirit along with all other matters of tenderness.

Muslims are told not to pray for patience because then Allah tests you (to increase your capacity of patience) and those tests are not easy.

Muslims pray for Afia (ease) for this world and the next.

All strength is with God.

I'll tell you why you were told not to pray for patience. Because you will get it. And learning patience is not a pleasant experience.
