Depending on who you ask yes and no. :/ Bannanas are high in protein and potassium. But can constipate or bung you up. If you a big beiliever in the atkins diet, well thats a protein based meat eating diet which can lead to liver problems, meat proteins are hard to break up and meat can seat in the bowel - mainly the red variety for some time. Bannanas are different they are more easily broke down sooo...So yes bannanas are good on a diet, but take something with fibre to prevent you getting bungged up and please dont eat bannanas only, fruit and veg is always a good thing!!!

The no: Some people like the hardened atkins Zombies believe fruit to be full of sugar and thus they tend to stick at there undigestable liver destroying meat....but the sugars in fruit are different and bannaana is certainly one of the less sugary fruits i believe. I strongly recomend this site and recomend you bookmark it you can do a lot worse. http://www.whfoods.com/foodstoc.php

Also if you want to loose weight remember: If calorie Intake is less than calories burned - youll loose weight. But dont take little or no calories else your metabolism will slow down and will make it even harder to loose weight, aim for about 1000 per day, eat little and often, as preffered to big meals and take excercise. Eat breakfast to kickstart the system, morning excercise (light) can help kick start you also and just have discipline.! :) Goodluck!!!

Bananas are on the whole a good choice. They contain potassium and tryptophan, both of which are positive things to include in a a diet, the latter of which has been shown to elevate mood. Some people find that bananas are more filling than other fruits, and they do count towards your five a day.

However, bananas are very high in sugar, so I wouldn't eat one more than one a few times a week. Still not as bad as a chocolate bar or some sweets though.

You have to keep in mind how many calories you are spending in a day as well. You need to make sure your body doesn't start destroying itself to survive. If your body thinks it is being starved it will automatically store more fat. Carbs are not a bad thing as most people want to believe. You can stop eating them or cut back on them, but the second you stop doing that you will quickly gain weight again. You will also get headaches that are constant because your body needs carbs. The whole wheat is a good choice. Anything wheat is better for you. Same thing with rice, the brown rice is better for you than white rice. Don't forget to drink milk and orange juice also because of the vitamins and minerals that are in them. Try to eat smaller portions but more times throughout the day. I probably eat 6-8 times a day but small meals and snacks. This helps to increase your metabolism which will help you lose weigth. Also, keep on eye on those salads. Yes, they are better for you, but how much dressing are you putting on them? Trying making cajun chicken (its a seasoning and you melt some butter with it, then cook the chicken in it) and add that on top of your salad. Healthier and tastier. I absolutely love it. I usually add croutons too because they give you some more carbs. However, you should try to include some sort of exercising as well. It is not really all about the food you eat. Everything in moderation is alright, so don't feel bad about a sweet treat here or there. But to lose weight, you really need to do a combination of eating well balanced meals and exercise. Now exercise can include even just walking for 30 mins. at a fast pace. You don't have to start out exercising like crazy, like joining a gym or working out 10 times a day. Just take it slow. You could probably switch over to an adult multivitamin because it is going to have more of the vitamins that you need. Reward yourself every so often. It helps you want to keep working at losing the weight. A reward can be a new movie, clothes, or something sweet. If you are craving sweets, try some can fruits. Keep them in the fridge so they are cool. Great healthy snacks that help that sugar craving. Remember, the weight you are trying to lose didn't appear over night so it is not going to go away that quickly either. Hard to remember but it helps when you are getting frustrated with the weight. Good luck!!

Hi it all depends if you are eating them as well as cutting down on other foods and trying to loose weight then they are very healthy to eat. The contain lots of fibre so its always good.

If you where however doing a diet like weight watchers then these weight like 3 points just for a small banana, I know this makes no sense to you with weight watcher and points etc, but 3 points for a small banana is quite a lot of points to take of the points allowance.

But yep any fruit is healthy for you, but eating them wont nesscary make you lose weight but it shouldnt make you gain weight either.

Nutritionists and medical researchers say that if there's only one fruit you can have it's best to make it a banana. That's because a banana is naturally fat-free, contains vitamins and minerals, has a lot of fiber, tastes good, and is a great source of energy. Plus, it is one of the cleanest fruits due to its naturally protective feel.

Bananas contain the highest level of starch and dietary fiber among other fruits. That's why even a single banana can give a feeling of fullness, a great help if you are weight conscious. What more can you ask from a fruit that's fat-free, sodium-free, cholesterol free yet so satisfying?

The fiber content of bananas also make it "Nature's Digestive Calmant." Bananas are calmants because they help relieve the effects of stress such as peptic ulcer by protecting the stomach walls.

Bananas contain more digestible carbohydrates than any other fruit. The advantage is, your body burns off more calories from carbohydrates quickly and easily than calories from protein or fat- giving you a high metabolic rate. What's more, bananas also make a great post-exercise snack because it replaces lost vitamins and minerals during a strenuous activity. That's why most athletes prefer bananas than any fruit as their snack during a game break.

Bananas also contain the highest level of potassium among other fruits. This mineral helps minimize the risk of stroke by reducing blood pressure. This mineral is also considered as a primary "brain food" because it is needed in the proper function of the nervous system. Aside from potassium, bananas also contain the highest level of vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine).

Whilst fruit is generally healthy, bananas is (or, as we say in English, 'are') just about the worst fruit to eat if you want to lose weigth, or even weight.

Yes, bananas are healthy for you whenever. But if your asking if bananas are going to make you lose weight than no. Your best bet when wanting to loose weight is to eat high fiber foods like;
•Pears
•Pistachios
•Berries
•Artichokes
•Lentil Beans
•Edamame
•Light Popcorn
•Whole Grain Cereals
•Whole Grain Bread

Its more likely to loose weight when your eat more fibers.

Yes, although they are higher in calories than some other fruit they are an excellent source of essential potassium. Be warned though too many will make you constipated.
