Use the potatoes acceptable away Its purely like an apple. you're taking the peel off, go away it out, it turns brown. I pay attention putting them in a bowl of water, could help in case you have been making plans on leaving them minimize for a evening or so, yet i could double examine on that.

What we usually do is to soak the potatoes in a basin salt solution.( about 1 to 2 tsp of salt to 2 litres of water) Same thing goes with cut apples.

If you only want to stop your potatoes from turning brown after peeling them, keep them immersed in water. If, as with your mother, you want to grate them and stop them turning brown I'm lost.............

They would probably be available in groceries, but you don't really need them. All you have to do is to immerse them in water to prevent moisture loss and oxidation. Potatoes are high in moisture and like apples, they too oxidize which turns them brown. submerging them in water will prevent that.
