TWICE: My daughter got a speeding ticket, pled not guilty, showed up an hour late for court, the state trooper never appeared, and the case was dismissed.
Is it a coincidence or is she onto something?

What it is is underfunding. The police are not adequately staffed to allow officers to perform all their duties, and a speeding ticket is fairly low on the list when the crunch comes.
Tell her to slow down, so she lives to give you grandchildren. There are worse things than tickets.

She had better start showing up on time. If her case comes up before she gets there she will be found guilty. If the cop does not show up to present his side and be cross examined his evidence as written on the ticket is invalid and the charge must be dismissed.
Why does he want to be in court wasting his day when he can be out on a no work detail controlling traffic around a utility truck or some road construction. For overtime.

I guess… that’s been around for quite a while. Most police officers don’t have the time to spend in court for every ticket so, if you challenge it and the officer does not show. It is dismissed.
Now about that name and pic… You’re really proud of that aren’t you?

Personally, I make it a point to appear in court on criminal and traffic!
It's not fair to those who wish to drive on our highways and byways without fear of some other rude driver who thinks there's nothing wrong with taking their own and other drivers safety into their own hands.
Better be thankful the trooper and other priorities!

She is lucky because most cops don't have the time to sit around and wait for people to show up.
My recommendation is she don't keep trying that because it will catch up to her.
