clumpy isn't the right word when regarding the bleeding. its just that it was a large amount of blood and i got scared when i saw that happening to her

I had similar symptoms from my lab when he got into rat poison. The good news is if the test is positive for it the dog can be treated with vitamin K. I have no idea where my dog got into it but he was fine after a $1000 vet bill. I hope your turns out good too. Good luck

I'm sorry to hear, that your dog is not feeling well! Poor baby! I have to say Thank You, for being a responsible owner, and taking her to the vet. You did the right thing! It's really hard to say, exactly what the cause is. It can be so many different things. Just rest assured, that she is in the best place she can be and being well taken care of. They will find out exactly what is causing this and treat it properly. I know it's hard not to worry! I hope she's better soon. If you want to, let us know how she does.

My dog had the same symptoms, but he was 12 years old. He had a tumor in his rectum.

Have they done a rectal exam? They should be able to feel it.

They x-rayed my dog's back half of his body, but didn't see anything. But they did NOT do a rectal exam. They told me he was probably just constipated and sent us home.

Well, the tumor grew and grew, and he got worse and worse.

So ask for a rectal exam. She's actually pretty young for a tumor, but you don't want to take any chances.

she may have eaten a cooked bone in particular a cooked chicken bone, a friend of mine's dog did it once and the bone splinted and every time the dog went to poo the bone was getting lodged further and further into it's rectum causing tearing. he had also been vomiting and bleeding. once it was removed and healed the dog was fine.
hope this helps put your mind at ease. it might just be something silly like that as apposed to big and scary diseases. : )

IT actually does NOT sound like Parvo. Sounds more like an internal injury. "clumpy blood" is a little confusing. Do you mean clumping as in drying or large amounts?

It could be anything from something she ate to a serious medical condition . There`s no point in speculating and possibly upsetting you when only your vet can say for sure .

Hope it works out ok for your dog .

Get that dog to a vet ASAP. It sounds like parvo! I adopted a stray and he started doing that. Within days he had lost half his body weight and was gone a week later. The sooner you catch it the better! If that's what it is your dog needs immediate medical attention! a $40 test will tell you!

It could be an infection. It could be something that your dog swallowed that is causing internal bleeding. It could be almost anything.

Regardless...hope she's better soon.

G'luck

It's nice to see someone has actually taken their dog to the vet before getting in here to ask what is wrong. Good for you and I hope your dog is better soon.
