There was a time you COULD give a thumbs up or down to a QUESTION, just like you do for answers. They replaced that with the stars system. Six months ago maybe I'm guessing?

There used to be thumbs up and down on questions, but they replaced it with the star. It was part of the effort to keep trolls from causing too much damage. You either give it a star or not, but if it's not bad enough to warrant reporting, just pass it by. Seems sensible to me. Of course if it IS bad enough to be in violation of the Community Guidelines, then you really should report it. That's how we clean up the site to the extent possible.

They used to have thumbs up and down on questions but they took it away.
The "star" function is kind of ambiguous. A lot of people think of it as a mark of approval but the site says to use it to mark an "interesting" question. I use it when I want to be able to find it again easily later on to see how other people responded. (I don't star many questions, so its a lot easier to look though my questions I've starred than to look through all my answers).
I often star a question that I think is offensive because I want to look at other responses or see if the asker responded to me in some way.

Report isn't for a bad question, more for a question that breaks certain rules and guidelines
a thumbs down to a question would in essence be saying "you are dumb," and I guess Yahoo feels that would be counter productive

We used to be able to give questions thumbs down but they took that feature away and left us with the star.
The report button is just silly.

Your thumbs down is when someone answers your question with a variation on the theme of "You're an ignorant ******."
I get lots of them!!!

That's a very good question which I've often wondered my self, because some of the people on here ask some really, really stupid questions.
