In most states you have to be 18, but in Alabama, Alaska, New Jersey, Utah, and a few counties in New York, you must be 19 to purchase cigarettes.

18.
Don't start if that's what you're thinking. I have smoked for 13 years and just recently quit cold turkey 3 weeks ago-it was difficult, but I did it and will never smoke again. I had quit twice before, but started again. (3rd times a charm!!) It's a nasty habit, not to mention expensive- and with all the health problems that result---if you smoke, and CONTINUE to smoke, you WILL die from some cigarette related disease. It's a terrible addiction (and legal too- something's wrong with that). You're slowly poisoning body. Think twice before doing it!!

In order to buy cigarettes in the US you must be 97 years old and have no signs of poor respiratory health. Please do not attempt to purchase cigarettes here until you are of age and do not smoke cigarettes purchased by others or you will never qualifty to buy your own.
