I certainly think God should be a bit more careful about who he chooses to represent him... :-)

No. These are screwed up people that hide behind the name of God or the church in order to do in secret the very things they should be confessing and fleeing from. To look to "christians" and so called "christians" for your negative viewpoints on christianity and belief is ridiculous. There are many, many faithful believers out there who are true disciples of Christ. Many have given their lives in dedication or martyrdom for the Ekklesia (purpose of Christ) so that people all around the world could have hope. To look at the likes of the charectors that you have mentioned above as the example of why you cannot believe, or refuse to, is like me saying that some dentist who sedated and raped a patient is typical of all dentists so therefore...I don't believe in dentistry. However, if you want to use these people and thier pathetic excuse for lives as a reason to bash christianity and impune the walk of most other people of faith then that's alright. I'm sure the ones that are living for God don't need you out there defending them. You are persecutor..so you are doing your job. Keep up the good work. Love in Christ, ~J~

I am a Christian. I truly believe that tv "evangelists" do have a negative influence on people such as yourself. If I did not already know and understand Christianity as I do, I have no doubt that I would believe exactly as you do. But these "preachers" are an abberation and a discredit to our Lord and Savior and to those of us who truly believe the teachings of Christ. God doesn't want our money and possessions. After all, He is the one that gave them to us in the first place. He does want our souls and He wants us to worship Him. So many people do not understand the true message, and wouldn't know it if they heard it because of all the non-truths and heresies heard by someone on tv who does not even care about the true message, but the most important thing to them is not your soul, but your pocketbook. I wish you would ask for understanding in this matter as your salvation is very important to me. If I can ever help you, I beg you to let me know. God bless you, my friend.

By that logics atheism must then produce only mass murderers such as Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and the other atheist leaders of the USSR and China.
The actions of a handful of people who abuse a religion or philosophy does not invalidate the honest and sincere faith of millions of people who do not committ crimes are abuse people because of their faith, but rather give their lives in service and help to others.

You can't really judge how God is, or the validity of Christianity, by the actions of human beings.
At some point, every Christian does stumble.
Also, some aren't real to begin with. Some can act.
The tares grow with the wheat, but in the end they will be taken out and burned.

So because there are bad people involved in churches, that must mean there's no such thing as a god?
You do realize that in the past people sacrificed children to their gods (Canaanites), or engaged innocents in battle to the death (Nords), and countless other "bad" deeds dedicated to their gods?
Who says a god wants people to be good? Christians? Big deal, they're only one of thousands of religions. Not all religions believe that god is "good". Therefore not all people who follow a god would have to be good either.
The actions of humans does not disprove the existence of a god just because those actions betray the teachings of one of the larger religions.

Does loving God, believing I too am a sinner, but desiring to live eternity in a good and Holy place help you understand why I believe what I do?
Stop trying to follow people, follow Christ the only perfect one.

No. Are you comparing yourself to men? OR are you making Jesus your standard. Everyone sins. And yes those men will be held accountable for those that ran from Jesus because of it. But if you die and go to hell you cannot blame Jim Bakker. You have to accept that you reject Jesus because you wanted your own sin. Another mans sin is not a reason to doubt a sinless God. IT should make you understand that God loves us for who we are. David was a murdered and adulterer, Abraham, Moses all sinned horribly. But God saves thur the sacrifice of his son and not by our merits. Keep your eyes on Jesus sand off man. Man will disappoint you every time, Jesus never will.

You were abused as a Child?
If you mean not trusting the Clergy then fair play.
To be honest it doesn't help me understand you at all. Atheism is not a hard concept to understand for anyone that has studied comparative religion.
