There are people that are alone and there are people that should be alone. But there is a natural need to form groups. It is out of protection and to further the species.

We need other people to complete our own needs. This is because we look to the outside world to complete our inner needs. Personally I believe that there is something within us, something more, that if we did decide to pay attention to and trancend, we wouldn't need to turn to other people to fill in the emptyness so to speak.
There are philosophies that revolve around the notion that we adapted into communal creatures because of the use that another one has for us. But there is also the argument that there is a selfless element to people, who in times of crisis, don't think twice to give up their own life to protect their love, whether this be an ideal (found via introspection, ie world within) or a lover (found via external world, but takes you to the same experience), it is protecting that "Something more" you seek to find in your question.

We don't have to be with other people, there are some called 'loners' who go away and live by themselves in the wild.

But I guess we do 'want' to be with other people due to over exposed interaction with so many people since we are a baby. This causes a mentality that other people always make you feel better than to be by yourself.

Also, by being with other people, your ideas and opinions can be heard and you can have a comment on them. That probably makes you feel more wanted in a group.

It's one of the biggest parts of being human; it's something present at birth.
Why do wolves need to form packs? Why do antilopes form herds? It might be only for mutual help towards the common goal or for security.

People decide to be with people for their situations-- can I be instructed? Entertained? Given something?
The Given Something part includes love and wealth among others.

You don't have to be with society. You can be reclusive in some reclusive place. And not interact with anybody. But you might not be benefited as much there.

The Christian idea is that where love is, there God is also. Christians are commanded to love their neighbor and by doing so, they find both love and God. I think our need for God was put into our human nature by God and therefore we will never be at rest until we rest in Him.
