I live in Ohio in the USA but I had an ultrasound done (8 wks along). Some doctors do it later or some before. So far I've had 2. I didn't have to fill out any paperwork the first visit because he is my normal OBGYN but at the beg of Sept I had a few things to fill out. Nothing major.

If they do an ultrasound on you they will probably do a vaginal one because you're not that far along for a regular one. That's what I was told. They can see more that way.

Good luck with everything!!!!

Most GP's in Aus do pre-natal care and you might be informed of a shared-care option which is a program where you see your normal GP most of the time, at about 18wks you go to the hospital (normally nearest public hosp) for a checkup and booking in appt with them. Then back to your doc until 36wks when you go back to the hospital to see them again so they can check your progress etc.. they will book another 41wk hosp appt if you are over due too.
If your doc doesn't see pregnant patients they may refer you to another doc in the practice for your pregnancy. If you are private patient its all completely different!!

normally the doctor will just ask you a bunch of questions to start with, possibly take blood and urine samples if they have a surgery on the premises otherwise you will be sent with a referral to a pathology place to take them. he will feel your tummy, weigh you, take blood pressure and book you in again for 6 wks time.
At about 24wks you start going 4 wkly till 32 wks and then 2wkly till 36 and then weekly till due. They may send you for a scan at 12wks (optional as you pay, some people choose not to if they are 100% sure of LMP and doc can hear heartbeat on doppler) and then again at 18-20 wks for the morphology scan which checks baby for abnormalities.
at 28 you go for a blood glucose test to check for gestational diabetes.

Oh and they will probably give you a recommendation to start taking folic acid (folate) if you aren't already taking it.

I think this about covers it! Congratulations and best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy!
