I want to know if that's part of my ex husband's problem, or if it was just a coincidence.....

I'd say that yes, there is something wrong with him... but the bigger problem could be with his overbearing mother. Or maybe the guy's just infantile.

LOL, this one hit home. Coming from a large family 6 kids (all same "mommy & daddy") I am now 30 and the 2nd oldest... and to this day all of my brothers and sister..I included call our mom "mommy". Our dad before he passed away was always "daddy". I don't care what ppl think of what I call my folks. We were brought up to know them as that. Why change what works?? P.S. She's now "grandma" though.... but always "mommy".

Well darn girl he has to call her something... mommy is fine he just loves his mommy, we all have this inner child in us.. I don't think he has a problem... as long as he is not a mommy's boy that could be a pain in the ***.. but if that is not the case just by him calling her that I really don't see anything wrong with it.

Uh, YES. Sounds like we were married to the same guy. I'm sorry, but real men do not call their mother Mommy. Why didn't we see those red flags before tying the knot? Hindsight is 20/20.

No, there's nothing wrong with a son calling his mother "mommy" irregardless of the age. it only shows how much your husband reveres or respects his mother. you should be proud of him coz he's not afraid of other people's opinion/ tirade!
Unless he's an immature, spoiled-brat, grown man, then you cannot say it's a problem..

In Asian communities, men and women would consider calling their parents or even aunts and uncles by their names as disrespectful. I have two sons and I sure would not like them to call me by my name -whatever their age. A mother is always a mother and I would feel i have failed in being a loving and good mother if they stop calling me mummy or any other endearment affectionately. That does not mean that I want them to be mama's boys.

Uh, yes. Mom, Ma, even Mother, okay. But "Mommy?" You made a mistake by saying he was "grown up."

Depends where he is from, how he was raised. Some men still call there mother, mama.

I used to think that and it still sounds weird to me but I know that in the south a lot of them do!! Did he spend a lot of time clinging to her??
