Obviously at this stage it's all opinion and I agree with you. I'll state my case clearly, I'm feeling positive about this. It is more probable that a fair skinned, blond child is not Moroccan. I'm not saying it's not possible, just that's it's not probable, big difference

Although the photos are grainy anyone can see the child looks far younger and shorter even though you can't see full body, than Madeleine also the hair is a lot darker blonde and this child has a round face Madeleines is a lot slimmer.

There are hundreds of children like this around the world. I was born blonde haired and blue eyed at the age of 4 my hair darkened considerably and my eyes went to a greener shade.

If this photo was taken four weeks ago why didn't the person put it forward earlier. As you can't see the people in it properly you can't really say whether this child looks like them or not. So much speculation and yet again no evidence.

Maddy is not the only blonde haired fair skinned child in the world and no doubt there are Moroccan children with light hair and skin. All my family are dark haired, brown eyed and olive skinned but I had blonde hair as a child and am fair with freckles.

I'm not going to answer this question again but, it's a matter of genetics: how many millions of American and British troops were in these areas during WW2: and Italian? "millions" do you all think they kept their zippers up? I'm sure there are second and third generation children running around with blond hair and blue eyes.

When Lewis and Clark made their way West in the Early 1800 they met Flathead Indians that had Blond hair and blue eyes in the area of the Platte river. They didn't make an investigation but it was assumed they were the remnants of the Roanoke settlement that disappeared many years before. Many generations in the past.

A total misconception and one that I used to have. With children whos colouring was fair skinned with blonde hair children when both parents were dark skinned with dark coloured hair.

Since those times I now know that this is possible and that the child of that union does not even look like it's parents. It's a throw back in the genes.

There was a famous case in the UK way back in the sixties where a woman gave birth to a black baby. Naturally this womens husband and did not believe that he was the father. However, they traced their family ancestory back and found that the woman was descended from a slave who lived in Bristol.

To be honest I think the photo in question is too blurry to even tell the age of the child or even the gender. The light when the picture was taken could easily have made the child's skin and hair look much lighter.

Also, dark skinned parents do not always have dark skinned children. Something else to remember is that if a child had been snatched and those who did it were aware of the media furore surrounding her disappearance, they wouldn't parade her around like that.

Sometimes dark haired people can have faired children. My husband is Turkish and both he and his 1st wife were dark, but his daughter was blonde when she was a little girl. she is now dark skinned and dark haired. There are many, many little fair haired kids in Turkey who have dark parents maybe its the same in Morocco. At the moment it is impossible to say whether its Maddie or not

If there were any ancestral connections to fairer skinned people... any child can be born different from a family.

I have six children... my second child and first daughter tans so easily... and her hair is very dark... and in the sixties... rumour went around that I had slept with a black guy... it got me a lot of flack... but she is my husband's child... and years down the line... I came across a picture of an ancestor... dressed in Victorian clothes... her name was not English... and her face and hair are seriously dark... she looks out of place inside all the formal pictures of her family... but she is my ancestor... and the debate is still ongoing as to is she black... or Spanish?

And I smile... because apart from me... my family are openly (verbally) racist... and I never was... nor will be... and I then came to understand throw-back children... and all of us have someone somewhere in our past that does not bear the colour of our skins!

Some Moroccans do have blond children - I used to live there - usually if they do and they are totally Moroccan their hair turns darker around 5 to 7 - like some ethnic irish and other children in fact I have gypsy roots and was born pure ash blond but went very dark between 5 and 10.
But there could also be many other explanations for why they are carrying a blond child –
Below is only one that I am very aware of

i.e westerners have been going to Morocco for many years and living there with native Moroccans

................ this was especially common in the 60s and 70s on the 'hippy' trail when I was there - partly because cannabis grew wild in Morocco, I do not know if it still does as the last I heard they were going to eradicate it as a wild weed

( In a way it was a bit like Thailand is now and believe me there are many Thai's born now that have some western genetics and some do have blond hair!!}

Have you read the book - Hideous Kinky ( link below) which was about this time when Western young people, both men and women, flocked to Morocco on the hippy trail to live with Moroccans, as Moroccans and like Moroccans - including having relationships and sex. At one time, before it became cheap enough to fly further afield if you wanted to travel outside of Europe Morocco was the place to go.

You did not even have to fly ( as in those days flying was too expensive for many young people - but there was even a twice weekly minibus service to Morocco from London called the 'Magic Bus' That’s how I got there...............

........................hundreds of kids from England in search of 'exotic' adventure did as well, and many had relationships with Moroccan people (especially the lads who thought it was exotic and adventurous to have a 'thing' with a Moroccan girl - there was no HIV then) Many children were left behind..... and their children are still being born.

This is an era of Morocco travel that unless you were there it has been mostly forgotten
But to me because I was there it is no surprise to me that a Moroccan family is photographed with a blond child

Consequently there are literally hundreds of first, second or even third generation offspring in Morocco with 'white' English, European or USA roots - so this family could have western genetics.

I actually do hope that this is Madeleine - but due to what I know of Morocco I really do not think it is

Believe it or not, darker skinned people can produce fair skinned/light haired children who usually, but not always, go darker as they get older.
My husband is half Maltese and very dark skinned with dark hair, but as a child he was BLONDE.
My cousin has a black father and a white mother, he has natural blonde hi lites to his hair.
Honestly, look around you........we as British should be blonde haired, blue eyed, but most of us are not. Same as you get lighter colouring in Italy, Spain, Malta and even Morocco of people with BLONDE hair.

Well, we can't actually see the hair of most of the people in the picture so we don't know whether they are dark or fair haired; it's an assumption that they are dark haired.

Even assuming that they are dark haired it's not impossible for them to have a fair haired child. It only takes a couple of fair people back a couple of steps in a child's heritage.

I saw a Japanese lady on the bus a while back with a little boy with Japanese features and dead straight dirty blonde hair - it's unusual, but not impossible.
