i have a motorola sb5101i cable modem

THere is no network key in your SB5101i Cable modem. A network key is used for secure wireless networking. Unless you have a wireless router connected to your modem then what you are seeing is a wireless network from a neighbore that is secure because they dont want others to use it.

A network key is usually used in a wireless network to gain access to the router, shared internet connection or gateway. The network key is usually encrypted.
