No one has even looked at our Hospitals except Rudd. We have seen to many people that have died from this Blame Game. It is about time to get real and do something about it.

Ted T, My wife works as a nurse in aged care Homes. They cannot wait until the Labor Party really does something about them. She was a Lib voter up until now.

Of course it is the States job to run the hospitals but I think the Fed. govt. knows how to embarrass by not doing their job which is aged care. They do this by not providing appropriate care for older people requiring residential care who then have to be allocated a hospital bed. I understand the figure to be around 2300 beds at all times. As all the States are Labour the LIbs feel no obligation to do anything about it. I am therefore interested in the Rudd approach which is to provide another 2000 places for the elderly which will free up those beds in hospitals. Also his requirement that the States then get their act together with another 2 billion plus over 4 years. Time will tell but it has to be better than this lot trying to sabotage the system.

The Federal Government has to get real when it comes to the crippling hospital system. Having worked as a nurse in both Aged care and in the public system for many years, I am appalled at the conditions that not only the staff have to endure but also the patients care is being compromised by the lack of support.
My fear is that the present Government will gradually turn the system into a USA type of health system and the ultimate losers will be the poor and disadvantaged!

They will introduce "visions" and "mission statements" and a "customer service charter". They will hire a bunch of consultants who will gobble up any money that is lying about and babble on with a lot of management bull$hit which will be different words from the current load of management-fad speak, but actually the same meaningless drivel. What they won't do is hire more medicos and nurses, or not many.

molly, I know exactly what you mean. I used to work in Blackwater, Queensland, a boom town of the 1970s. Joh Bjelke-Petersen carried on as if he had put the coal in the ground himself. But no hospital. No doctor. Not even a pharmacy. No high school, no cinema.

Closest hospital and doctor was the best part of an hour's drive away. This was in a town with underground coal mines and lots of young women producing kids like it was going out of style.

In WA the state that is booming they are busy trying get rid of the country hospitals and police stations not building more or fixing them.
The Port Hedland hospital is a disgrace for the amount of money taken out of that area its about time some was put back in.

Dead folk dont draw state benefits so the more as die the less the taxpayer pays, fix up the hospitals and you pay for the fix and pay again for the state benefits for the lowlifes that use the state hospitals. Close them down, if you aint worth enough for an operation chances are it is a waste of time in any case, Stae hospitals are full of illegals, they should be shipped over the border for the Mexicans to deal with.

I am waiting to see who will refurbish the integrity of the MLK Hospital in Los Angeles, without changing its name. Looks as if no one has addressed that yet. The Mexican mayor of Los Angeles is attempting to change the name to some Mexican name, would you not believe - what a racist prick. And he will not be re-elected so I don't know why I am complaining, he will be gone in a minute and not as Governor either.
