Hi there, as some of you may know i have to go for a c section on Monday due to me having Placenta Previa, I went for my 'pre op' yesterday and they took bloods etc for x match, they explained that i should expect to stay in for about 3 - 4 days. I am extremely excited knowing that our baby will be here in a few days but i am really worried about having the section and not being able to do anything afterwards! I'm also worried because the MW told me that i am to have paracetamol / co codamol to ease the pain after the op but the thing is, if i take 1 pain killer i'm dead to the world and worried in case i dont hear my baby cry for a feed at during the night if im doped up on painkillers!! This post is just a rant really about me being worried lol but if you can offer any good advice about my situation then please feel free!! All the best x

youll wake up for your own babie. I promise. btdt and I have 4 of them. my oldest still wakes me if he holds his breath, he sneaks in my room lays down next to me and does that on purpose to see me react.

Your just nervous, as I would, try and do something to take your mind off it. Good luck and congrats!

You should be really happy for being able to have a c-section with placenta previa. Take is as a blessing and think about the numerous women that died of the condition before c-section became the safe option that is now. So many women go through it now that you can rely on the excellent experience of doctors and complete safety for you and your child. Also it takes a very short time and you skip all the pain of natural childbirth. There are worse cases than a planned c-section - f.ex. I just came home from being in hospital for high blood pressure. My roommate had pains for 2 days and was finally put on hormone for speeding up dilation but ended up with a c-section. So she got the worse of both. At least you are only going to have the pain after delivery and not the pain before that. As for painkillers, paracetamol does not make you drowsy so you might prefer to use that. And also, the worst pain is the first 24 ro 48 hours but you will be hospital then and will not need to worry about your baby. When you come home, you might be able to go without a painkiller at all, depending on your condition and how much pain you can handle. So don't worry, everything is in your favor. Just think about your baby - you'll hold her/him into your arms very soon.

You will need something after the c-section. I had a pretty easy recovery from my c-section but those first couple days afterwards you need something to help with the pain. Is there anyway someone could stay with you at night to help you with feedings? Also I'm not sure about your hospital but with mine the baby stayed in the room the whole time but if you needed a break a nurse could watch the baby. If your not breastfeeding maybe a nurse could watch the baby at night and if you are breastfeeding they could bring the baby back to your room so you could feed or you could pump a lil for night time.

Wow, how exciting!!! Good luck for the big B'day!!

I don't think you will have a problem hearing your baby since he/she will be right next to you unless the nurses are taking care of her. They are a little harder to ignore unfortunately! When you become a mum, somehow our hearing gets fine tuned and all they have to do is fart and you'll be wide awake!
Your adrenaline will keep you active as well, so don't worry, everything will be fine!

Plus if you don't hear him/her cry I'm sure someone else will and they will definately let you know about it!!

Good luck for your big day! And congrats in advance!

Oh, word of advice, make sure to have a few pairs of high cute knickers that will sit way above your bikini line/incision or they will just irratate the crap out of it. Granny undies, although ugly, work the best!

Explain to the doctor about your problem, and he might prescribe somthing that is not as strong, and in event that you are really knocked out, you could always prepare some spare milk and leave it in the fridge for the night feeds. I believe that your hubby would wake up from all the baby's crying. But remember to tell your hubby that the milk must be warmed before he feeds it to the baby. Men can be well....quite dumb in such sense, and especially when they are still half asleep. hehe

CONGRATS (^.^)
and hope this helps
