My theory is that if you are in university, you should type as fast and as accurate as a receptionist. I mean, you are doing enough essays and such for it to be warranted. I say 55 WPM - 65 WPM WITH ACCURACY. But hey, if you aren't having any trouble typing out notes or doing essays, I don't see a huge problem.

If you can perform 50 WPM with no EPMs you are doing good; The mean for you as a college student should be 60 to 70 WPM with a minimum of 2EPMs.

50 wpm with no errors is totally fine for taking notes and writing essays. Even if you achieve 80 WPM, if you have a bunch of errors then you have to waste time fixing those errors so just shoot for accuracy and get faster after you've mastered that. Then you could keep up with even the fastest talking teachers.
