You are new on your job working as part of a team. You have been assigned the lead role on a project where you are to analyze a problem and generate a solution during your next team meeting. You want to prove to the team you are capable of handling such an assignment and believe the problem isn’t too complicated. With a little extra work, you think you have identified an appropriate solution. You should:

1. Tell the team you have a possible solution, but are interested in hearing their ideas.
2. Review the problem with the team and wait to see if the others suggest your solution.
3. Avoid reviewing the problem with the team and provide your solution directly to your manager after the next meeting.
4. Present the problem and your solution at the next meeting and ask the team to generate a better solution by the end of the meeting.

Do you think the company is looking for a "right" answer, or just seeing what your work/management style is? Thanks!

This question does seem to have some wrong answers.

3 is the sort of psycho workmate you want to kill, but usually gets promoted above you.

2. Is very weak, you haven't actually down the job.

1 and 4 are the correct answers, though I would go with 1 because it was what you were asked to do, come up with a solution.

4. is also correct, but I don't understand why you need to get the team to generate a better solution.

Usually these questions are used as part of a long list of questions.
