I concur, now go and convince George Bush of that statement and you might start to get somewhere.

Jews have had a continuous presence in the area for almost four thousand years.

When the British suggested partition, in 1947, the Jews said yes immediately, even though they were getting a far smaller part of the land than the Arabs.

The Arabs refused partition, and instead declared war on the Jewish state - the surrounding Arab nations then attacked simultaneously within 12 hours of Israel declaring independence.

Sadly, the Palestinians have been treated badly by pretty much everyone at one time or another, especially the Arab nations. Jordan stuck them in horrendous camps, and when Egypt controlled Gaza, she mined the borders so that the Palestinians could not leave.

The Israelis give the Palestinians free water, medical care, and they build schools and hospitals for them. Israel even - bizarrely - gives them arms so they can defend themselves against, for example, Hamas militia.

The Palestinians need their own state; I think this is a fair assessment.

But it cannot be at the expense of Israel, and her security.

Ideally, there will be two states, co-existing peacefully: Israel, and Palestine.

The challenge - and it is such a tough one - is firstly to silence the extremists on both sides.

The Palestinians must also reject terrorism; they did after all elect Hamas, a terrorist group, to be in charge and we all watched what happened in Gaza after Hamas seized control!

Both Israelis and Palestinians will have to make huge concessions, and both sides will undoubtedly feel they have made the most and biggest compromises.

But the fact remains that for peace to be achieved, both Israelis and Palestinians MUST find a way of living side by side.

This would take a book to answer... Both sides argue they have historical rights to the land... I think no one really knows who was there first... I mean we weren't alive to witness it.

I do know that I do not agree with the League of Nations stepping in and taking the land away from the Palestinians. I will never believe that was the right thing to do. That is why I have written and studied the current situation extensively.

I happen to be outraged out how the USA, Israel, Jordan and Eqypt are siding with the Fatah right now. What they are doing is just wrong.. it is wrong. Hamas wanted to take control of their designated right as the pariliament.. the security centers. Yet, they get called terrorists? Abbas takes it among himself to dissolve the government? How can he do that.. yet Israel and the USA are all for it.. of course so they can have a friend in the region.

As Palestinians are displaced Arabs, there is no way they have ever had any claim to Israel! It is quite clear that if this person reads the bible (as they seem to know so much about Palestinians), they will know that the land of Israel belongs to the Jews (or Hebrews as they were originally called). This is because the land of Israel was purchased by King David a Jewish/Hebrew King of Old testament times going back roughly 3-4,000 years! Just to clear up the confusion!!!

The Palestinians are descended through the line of Ishmael. The promise of the land given by God was given through the line of Isaac from Abraham.

Says who? Israel's claim goes back farther and over a longer period of time. Iran probably has a more legitimate claim than the Palestinians. This argument is doomed to fail. Better to let people decide for themselves based on the here and now.

If you go back in history you will find that there was no such "country" as Palestine.

It was a region that was occupied by many races and tribes, one of which was the Jews.

There are no "true" owners for that region or that land.

In reply to Mike1942 above:
An agreement was offered to the Jews and Arabs which involved giving the Jews more of Israeli land than the Arabs.

The Arabs, understandably, refused this unfair settlement.

Fighting broke out and the Jews then took the whole of Israel by force.

Hotmaleforever, why do you believe that the Palestinians are the true owners of the land?

And just how far back in history are we supposed to dig to decide who the TRUE OWNERS of any land might be. The Israeli's stole the land fair and square 3 or 4 thousand years ago and then again in the middle of the 20th century. The TRUE OWNER of any land is whomever can TAKE and HOLD it. Period.

Sorry, but you should be apprised of the facts as concerns "Palestine".
Palestine was never a country. It was a department of the Ottoman Empire, which, after World War I,became part of the British Mandate. It was home to both Jews and Arabs, but was never administered by either race. The British had long promised and supported a Jewish homeland in this area.

After WW II and the Holocaust,it became obvious that the restoration of at least part of the Jewish homeland was urgently needed.

The Arabs have created the whole "Palestinian race" from whole cloth. There has never been any such race,or any such place, except in the minds of Arabic propagandists and a gullible western press.

there should be two independent state; Palestine and Israel. both side actually came from Sami race and in whole area, there was only Jews community because of Moses. then, there had begun to different religions. before the Christianity, Jesus was the Jewish. then, he became christian prophet. then, Mohamed introduced his religion. but, before that, he was christian

for me, all conflicts about religion is idiotism!
