level of handicap.My cousin was severly handicapped as a child.she is living better than some people thanks to the state school she was sent to many years ago.She was schooled in areas of house skills,shopping and financial issues.She will never be rich or have luxury things but she is happy and so are we.

Yes, but you have to remember that mental retardation covers a range of skills and lacks. The guy or gal at the grocery store bagging groceries is obviously capable of carrying out simple tasks and apparently getting to and from work, perhaps by bus if not able to pass driving test.
There are people with mild retardation who are keeping house, perhaps in a group or as a couple and working in various limited capacities if need be.

Depends on the degree of retardation and what tasks the person needs to perform . Sometimes a perfectly healthy person needs help to get through the day .

yes, my brother is mentally retarded and he can do almost everything he needs to to live a normal life

but it all depends on the level of damage or underdevelopment of the brain.. some have whats called asbergs (i cant spell it) but it means they can be really good at one or many particular things eg: math, music, computers etc

so yep they'll be fine and the ones that arn't are cared for efficiently

It is not unusual for someone who may have been labeled as "mentally retarded" not only to hold a job but to be a model employee. I know of several such cases.

Yes and No, depending on the state of retardation that person is in. EXP: if they have alzheimers then no because they would be indangering theirselves by not remembering important things as far as electrical

It really depends on the level of retardation. Many "retarded" individuals hold jobs, cook their own meals, get married and even raise families.

What the hell are these questions aimed at? There are those with MR that you wouldn't even KNOW had MR. They work, drive, have families...speak, walk, read, write...the whole schebang.

there are some people with MR that have become great leaders. no examples but im sure there are.
