That was sad! Although i don't have approve anyone goals to try to get some nuclear weapons, americans, who do you think you are too tell another country not to do something? I don't support iran but it think Americans are not fair! So because you are powerful, YOU, Americans can have those weapons, but others can't and won't because you don't want them too? i mean, tell me, is it logical? is it reasonable? Why don't America throw is weapons as an example so others could lead the way? i think that because America is powerful, americans thinks that for some reason, they have to protect the world or smthg! The president of university of Colombia is a stupid human being! A 50 yrs and more who acted like a 15 yrs old! Why would you invite the guy to make speech and insult him like he did smthg to you.

Again, i don't support Iran here, but i'm trying to be objective and use my conscience! they ask the guy, question about women and gay! So because being gay in America is legal, you criticize Iran because it's not over there? Why? you're culture is better than others? you hold the absolute truth? Why do you want Iran to reward the homosexual? Why do you boo when he says there is no homosexual in his country? And if they were, maybe they never came forward. What do you know about it? What don't you respect their culture instead of booing them?

Another good point that he mentionned, is that, the gov supports or buy weapons to some group for some dark goals! People might laugh at it, but it is true! What you see on CNN is not always the reality! I lived in a coutry( ivory coast) where the french government led by Chirac sponsored and armed rebels who came from the north of that country and attacked it! i was in that country and i could tell the difference between what i saw and what the french media sur as TV5 depicted! I'm not a politician or anything like that, i like America, i dont hate Iran, i just turned 21, i probably don't know anything about life, but damnnn, americans can't always have it their ways cuz life ain't no burger king.

Just let those people do their things just like you are doing your things! I don't think that you listened the international community when you invaded IRAk, why should Iran listen to you? Let them make their nuclear things! Thw world is watching them! IF they go beyond their original "peaceful" goals, you'll have all the reason to attack them and declare a war against them!

Regardless of one's personal views or that of one's guest, to invite someone as a speaker and then insult him in front of a large audience is simply boorish and shows no class whatsoever.
Why was it so important to the present of Columbia University to show "which side he was on" that he had to attack a guest in his introductory remarks? If he wanted an open exchange of ideas, that is not the way to do it. If he was looking for a chance to challenge a world leader, there are surely more appropriate ways of doing that.

I felt the president of columbia university acted like a spoiled baby, To insult a guest was embarrassing to me.
I think Ahmadinajad showed great courage walking into the Lions den.
Americans are the most ignorant informed people on earth.
...We know so much we don't know nothing...
The president of columbia and the hecklers in the crowed represent the sickness in American culture that has brought us to this point.
Those are the type of idiots that will have a mushroom cloud over our country.
Whats wrong with living and let live? The fact is America wants to control the world.
I pray to anyones god that will never happen.
America is fast approching burn out.
America needs the world but the world no longer needs America.
As in all great powers, It will be destroyed by its own ignorance and greed.

My first reaction was to wish Bollinger had been more polite .Upon further reflection, though, his comments make it even better . Even though Bollinger obviously detests Ahmadinejad, he let him speak , showing how much valued is free speech . (I know- he was also throwing a bone to the critics , but still .....) The best thing about all this , is that it WILL be seen in Iran,(& elsewhere?) somehow, some way .It might just inpire a "Why not here too? Why not us?" response . In that, it might do more to help a Middle East democracy "Domino Effect" , than the Iraq War ever will .It got rough, but he brought it on himself . Seeing people unafraid to knock around someone of that stature (a head of state ) might inspire and embolden others (maybe even here in US? ;D), so was worthwhile, overall.
As for the nuclear weapons , would you want anybody with the mindset of those rebel groups in Ivory Coast , to have nuclear weapons ? It might not be exactly "fair" that some get to have them , and some don't , but I think that's preferable to everybody having them . If non-prolifeation is going to be the goal, then somebody has to enforce it. That somebody is the US, France , et al, ie. those that can . I reality, it's probably going to be up to India, China , and Russia to decide on Iran. They are the only ones with enough economic involvement with Iran, to influence the outcome .
Homosexuals & Iran? They executed a lot last year , & the BIG A, was joking about it . That's why there was angry reaction to his comment .It wasn't just a matter of taste, or cultural preference . It was about killing people for how they were born .

HB,
We are not Europe . You can wear whatever you want, religious or otherwise .(Or is the fact that there is choice ,what you object to?) Unfortunately the worst stuff seems to be more popular elsewhere, than here . (Baywatch, for example . A joke here, but very popular elsewhere .) You get our junk, culturally-speaking . If you and your compatriots would pass on it , you wouldn't be so afflicted . Just say "no". Nobody is forced to partake in what's bothering you.(whatever it is ) *shrug*

I really don't understand why they even offered him a chance to "speak". After all, didn't Bollinger preface Ahmadinajad's opportunity to speak by mentioning some of the more troubling aspects of Iran's situation while bolstering America up on a pedestal. Another fascinating thing about american citizens is we tend to accept whatever garbage explanation the government gives us, rather than examine issues & determine what you see for yourself. This is a government that determines who the "terrorists" are but do they include themselves as a terrorist nation?! Many of the things the american government condemns other nations for, she too has done that and worse. When you live in a glass house it seems really ignorant to throw stones. America demands other nations accept the way it does things, but it has trouble accepting other culture's way of doing things. America has more than enough of its own problems to contend with. The way I see it, fix your country's problems before you tell another country what it should and shouldn't do. We're going to other countries selling democracy and freedom and I'd like to know if we even experience it here. If so,then why in Jena, LA. did a group of black students feel compelled to ask school administrators if it was o.k. for them to sit under a tree; a tree that had been frequented by white students. If america practiced freedom and democracy, why were nooses painted in school colors and placed on said tree?! Why did the white man who approached 3 of the black boys in a convenience store with a shotgun receive no charges but the black boys were charged with theft of a firearm because they took it from him and kicked his butt ?! But no, america is not a racist place. Is it?? Read the "Willie Lynch Letter" and then you tell me.

When Columbia President Lee Bollinger described Mr Ahmadinejad as a "cruel dictator" who denied the Holocaust, it was not the right thing to do. All those who went to that appearance of the Iranian President knew his background and were fully aware of the remarks he made about the holocaust and the destruction of the state of Israel. I do not think that Ahmadinejad required or deserved such a description of himself in the introduction itself. I believe Lee Bollinger should at least have had the decency to wait for him to make his speech before challenging his views, like every other person who wanted to do so there. Having said that I do not think Ahmadinejad could have expected the red carpet rolled out for him in the USA. Yet, he did not come there with a bomb round his waist- belt and I think in a civilized society someone who doesn't really have 'blood on his hands' but whose views are different from many people including myself has a right to express his views and defend them.I cannot believe that Iranian people do not know what's really going on.

no not at all ,after all he is the president of a sworn nation, what Americana's want to thrust their culture ( homosexuality, fashion, drugs, sociopath's & nudity etc etc) on other nations of the world. there are ppl who d't like the american culture, why should americans force them to accept this evil culture. there are so many insistance for exmple in france & turkey women are not allowed to enter college & govt offices with head scrape . they never object american or western women to enter college or offices semi nude . in america hemosexuitly is leagel if some one try to stop it, this is human rights voilation, on othe side they (MUSLAMS) feel if some one is indulged in hemosexiulty this is human rights voilation. is't it logical ,this practice is against the nature ALL MIGHTY has made every living thing in couples male and female . all nations have the right to defend there country . america is the biggest terriest of the world .history repeats it self look at the 2nd world war ,what american's did to japan & now in iraq & ahfganistion millions of ppl are killed in the american invasion.

The Iranian President was given a taste of American freedom of speech. A taste he does not extend to his own people.
In America you have the right to speak your mind. You do not have the right to do it completely unchallenged.
The president of Iran is a holocaust denier, he kidnapped American diplomats, threatens Israel with complete destruction, murders homosexuals, denies women equal rights, is developing nukes in order to threaten Israel and the US, is the number one sponsor of state terrorism yet you somehow believe that he should be allowed to speak at an American University, in a building built by a Jew without being questioned in the name of manners?
He was invited so that the students could have a learning experience not to have his ego stroked.

Decode this lyrics ' We are the wolrd"
"Children are to be seen and not to be heard"
So children want to mess around with "The dirty old man"
Decode this lyrics " You raised me up"
Then children expose "The Elders in office were rude! Children misbehave with rudeness and self lack of knowledge" on what the Liberation of Freedom for the good of mankind from after world war two were all about.
So they were doing things at own whims and fancy getting kick on the butts as casualty of the dead Mummy in not worshiping God.

How ever this turned out, it shows one thing. He came, he spoke and he lived to go home. If this was Iran and it was Mr. Bush he would have been shot or bombed with no such respect as the PM got. Think about that.
