I strongly condemn it because guests should be respected.

Although I would personally condemn such an action, I was mildly surprised that nobody popped a cap in that lunatic while he was here. He is indeed an illiterate, uneducated fool, just like our old buddy Sadly Insane, as we call him at our house. On the other hand, we have to respect him for his ability to rise in the ranks despite his obvious lack of a decent education. Thank God he isn't educated! If he were, he'd be a lot more dangerous! That said, if he or his ilk ever take over in America, they'll have to do it over my rotting corpse. I would kill him with my teeth rather than ever embrace his ideals, or wear a tablecloth over my head.

My first reaction was to wish Bollinger had been more polite .Upon further reflection, though, his comments make it even better . Even though Bollinger obviously detests Ahmadinejad, he let him speak , showing how much valued is free speech . (I know- he was also throwing a bone to the critics , but still .....) The best thing about all this , is that it WILL be seen in Iran,(& elsewhere?) somehow, some way .It might just inpire a "Why not here too? Why not us?" response . In that, it might do more to start a Middle East democracy "Domino Effect" , than the Iraq War ever will .

ps : plenum, you got that right . Bush won't even answer questions (actually ANSWER ) here, in front of a friendly audience .(Or maybe he does & nobody else understands it?) Go to Iran & do it? =))))))))))

Mr. Ahmadinejad was respected in that he was allowed to say what he wanted to say. The "insults" were an exercise of the same freedom of speech that was allowed to Mr. Ahmadinejad.
The people of the US are accustomed to this type of thing, but apparently Mr. Ahmadinejad is not.
I do condemn the statements of people who say that Pres, Bush is a terrorist and a murderer; but I would defend to the death their right to say it, as I know he himself would.

It was a good thing for him to speak in public to Americans in a public forum and that Columbia U. gave him a forum says much about the institution. They should be congratulated. The insults that he endured, while I am no admirer of him at all, reflects more of us in our brainwashed, media-heightened environment than it does his irrationality - however, after six years of fear-training, the domestic environment here is far worse... Bush/Cheney want WAR.
-- I think that the PM was treated far worse than if Bush had gone to Teheran....

Think Bush would go to Iran to speak and answer questions from university students? A big, NO ! ! !

Guest are to be respected, if they show similar respect back. Calling for the destruction of Israel isn't showing respect...neither is jumping around the question of Israel's destruction when asked.

I think it is FANTASTIC that he spoke there.

He showed himself to be the uneducated, illiterate, sexist, racist, homophobic FOOL that we already knew him to be.

Now we can simply kick Iran out of the UN and treat it like any other religious-based child society that they are.
