You filtrate out residue.

A solvent disloves something and a solute gets disolved in something. For instance water is a solvent and the sugar or salt poured into the water is the solute.

Heterogeneous means different and homogeneous means alike. Apes and humans are homogeneous. A rock and a plant would be heterogeneous.

Atoms make up molecules.

Elements make up compounds.

An ion is an electrically charged atom.

Evaporation is the first step in distillation. Distillation also requires the cooling of the air to get the liquid back. Since solids don't evaporate, distillation is a way to seperate solids from liquids. That's one way to get drinking water from salt water for example.

Qualitative is the measure of quality such as the purity level of gold in a piece of jewlery while quantitive is the measure of how many as in how many pieces of jewlery there are.
