Do they ask what's your major, and "what are you going to do with that?" Does it bother you if you're not sure?

I'm a Psychology major, and after learning more and more, I've decided I don't really want to go down that route. My passion is in History and Philosophy. But I know if I switch majors to anything in the Humanities, I will consistently get blank stares. I'm tired of the utilitarian attitude everyone has now. I just want to think for myself, be educated, and enjoy college. And worry about what comes next later. Thoughts?

It will never end, sorry :(

I'm a college graduate with a biochemistry degree, and everyone asks me when I will go to grad school and what I want to study. But all I know is that based on my current job, I don't want a lifelong career in quality control or in the pharmaceutical industry.

Oh yes yes yes. People sometimes think they are helping but only offer pressure. They advise you, but they can only tell you what they know, and if someone does not know everything about what they're saying, why should I listen to what they have to say about what I should do with my life? This life doesn't last forever. I appreciate support and advice, of course, that is really important and I love hearing others' views and we all have different experiences and views but I don't take too kindly to people trying to push their issues off on others, or trying to control what I do. I have to live my life, nobody else can, so they really shouldn't try to bother me. Once I realized this and started saying it when I felt bothered, I felt so much better.

People are just being polite, but they end up being nosy that it gets your back up. Lol.

When I was in university, my parents just drummed one thing into me and my other siblings- Go for the degree you want, we dont care, Just be sure there is a job at the end of that endeavor, and whats more- you can live on that job and you will like doing that job.

do what you want, you'll only regret not doing it later. and it doesn't really bother me when people ask what i'm planning to do after college, i don't really know, but that doesn't really matter to me, i'll cross that bridge when i come to it.
