Hold on I have to peee...lol. I cannot speak for every one but being near a river..waterfalls..or just hearing the sound of running water for some reason makes me feel the need..the need to pee! Weird question but a great one as it's not something discussed at the dining table..well you never know at my house!

i think it only works when you have to go really bad in the first place. people just poke fun at the person by talking about water and exagerate the waterfall trickling down the cliff and I think it makes the person who has to go pee think even more about it so it gets worse.

Some parents used to train their kids to urinate by running warm water over their hands. Like Pavlov's dogs, they become conditioned and later still respond to the trigger.

Not really by "talking about water", but hearing the sound of water. In nursing, when a patient can not void, one non-invasive intervention would be letting him/her hear the sound of water flowing. I do not know the explanation about this, but it is written in nursing books.
