I am trying to connect my friend's laptop to the internet. Everyone else's PCs are working, except her mac. She is using airport. Apple's website is not very helpful. What should I do? Steps/websites appreciated!

LOL, QuiteNewHere!

They are not in an airport... Airport is the name of Apple's wireless products, such as the wireless card in the laptop or their base station routers.

Pumkindood, we need more info. If Airport status is shown in the menu bar (system preferences > network > show: airport), can she see a signal?

Which Mac OS is installed? If it is older than 10.3 you cannot connect to a network that is using WPA.

Check these settings first:

1. Click the Apple Menu and select "System Preferences".
2. Click on "Network".
3. From the "Show" menu, select "AirPort".
4. In the "TCP/IP" tab, ensure that "Configure" is set to "Using DHCP".
5. In the "Proxy" tab, make sure that nothing is checked.

Hope it helps.

peace

She shouldnt have any problem except maybe the terminal/connection she is using is the only one not working in the whole place. Try another portal? If your layover is not that long, share yours? Since you are typing this, you must be right there beside her using your regular windows based IBM laptop.

i'm not completely specific how this could artwork with a pc and a Mac, yet you will desire to have the skill to distant community. it will probable be very slow. I propose merely making use of an Ethernet cable with your Mac to hook up with the internet, or merely use the laptop.
